As good as a graphic novel can be in the mainstream MU context
It took me just a couple of very intensive reading hours to get through Siege. I had read some of Brian Michael Bendis' work before, as Powers, House of M and Civil War but this time he hit the spot. I couldn't stop reading until I reached the end and I would have continued all night long if there was more."The Marvel Universe is under the control of its greatest villains. Norman Osborn - the man previously known to the world as the Green Goblin - is the commander of H.A.M.M.E.R., the international peacekeeping force." This part of the story starts with Siege: The Cabal, where the reader is shown Osborn's madness is again overwhelming him. As he goes paranoid and while, after losing Namor and Emma Frost's support, Doom leaves the cabal and actually attacks him, Norman is seen falling prey to Loki's mischief. Afterwards the book collects Siege #1-4, where the attack on Asgard actually happens and comes to a somewhat surprising and close to apocalyptic end.Siege is a very interesting story from the beginning, having its roots in the latest big Marvel events, probably better noticed by those following the cabal and also Thor, told just at the right pace to make the reader feel excited but not like jumping pages to the end. It's easily understood by anyone that knows what's generally been happening in the Marvel Universe. The war on Asgard allows the author to bring a lot of heroes and villains into play and still be able to peek into their personal troubles, their personality, so that by the end of this event, everything could change or just come back to normal, and all would be fairly within limits of credibility.SPOILERSAs Osborn's, the full power of H.A.M.M.E.R. and the initiative are attacking Asgard, Steve Rogers gets the true Avengers into play, joined by Fury's Secret Warriors and later by a still recovering Iron Man into play. They manage to beat the attacking forces and disable the Iron Patriot armour but there is still one force to contend with - the "also" mentally unstable Sentry. Finally losing all control, Robert Reynolds fully unleashes the Void after destroying Asgard and becomes a danger to the whole world. When even the might of Thor's lightning and the heroes empowered by the Norn stones seem unable to stop him, Iron Man remotely crashes the H.A.M.M.E.R. helicarrier on him making him revert to human form. Reynolds begs the heroes to kill him and when they notice he is again losing control over the Void, Thor does just that and burns his body on the sun. In this single event, Thor has shown the extent of his determination, Loki demonstrated that even he cares for Asgard's existence over his own plans, Iron Man and Steve Rogers made heroic comebacks and in the end, friendships seem renewed.NO MORE SPOILERSThe Siege of Asgard, together with the X-men's Utopia stories, reset the Marvel Universe, preparing it for a Heroic Age, which seems to want to prove that after all the trouble, through the Civil War and the Secret Invasion, the superheroes can still find their old places in the world, as recognized defenders but also as friends with hopes of happiness. But any Marvel reader knows this will not be the end of the story, that problems will keep coming and the cycle will begin again, so all I can ask of the writers is that they do so in style, with the quality that Brian Michael Bendis showed in Siege. I must also make due reference to the amazing illustrations, penciled by Olivier Coipel or, in The Cabal, by Michael Lark. If not a masterpiece, in level with what can be done with separate, more independent graphic novels as Maus, Persepolis, Watchmen or even Sandman are considered (I still have to read some of those), I believe Siege is as good a novel as I've ever seen given its context.I recommend Siege for all of Marvel's usual readers as I believe only those with enough knowledge of the current state of affairs in the Marvel Universe and of most of the characters can enjoy all that this graphic novel has to offer.

Stunning
The dark reign saga reaches its climax. Norman Osborn has finally tipped over the edge of madness, and is preparing an all out assault on Asgard. And it seems there is very little in the way of people to stop him. The story line is, admittedly, quite basic, but a complex story wouldn't really fit the tone of the book, as it's more about the heroes setting aside their common differences to take on a super-powered army. The drawings are very good, and really helps illustrate the chaos of the fight. And the story turns from great to mind-blowing when the Sentry unleashes his full power. However, there are a few thing that need to be kept in mind. Firstly, this isn't for younger readers. There are moments when this when the fight turns ugly. Secondly, this probably won't make sense if you haven't already read civil war and understand the events of the dark reign. But, if you have, then this story is definitely worth buying. Everything about it is great.

Siegetastic....
Oh yes....we waited with baited breath and it finally came. A reunion of the warriors 3 (Thor, Iron Man and Captain America...not the actual warriors 3) defending Asgard from evil, and a secret twist involving one Avenger!Art work I don't comment on but it was good enough for me to be dazzled by the guts and gore, and yes there are some pretty graphic scenes. The storyline is ok. I raced through it initially and I did like the twists and turns but they seemed a little...worked, stuccato. Kindof punctuated around the whole. Bearing in mind this is a stand alone title but in reality there are a multitude of cris crossed titles with their own "Siege" story arcs. Alone this title feels a little incomplete and lacking just a little something. Together....well I'm not sure. I only have the Iron man cross over and none else so I can't comment.Worth having in the sense it is a big event and the story is good, but just lacking something overal.

Excellent comic, especially for Thor/Loki fans
I wanted to buy an Avengers comic which contained the movie characters and also told a good story. Siege was a brilliant choice because it delved into the Thor and Loki relationship which was central to Thor (2011) and Avengers (2012). It also had a lot of villains like Iron Patriot (Norman Osborn) and since I have not read Spider-Man yet, I was intrigued to learn more about his motives. This is a must read especially for those who have read Dark Reflections which contained a number of adversaries who were now mirror images of the good guys. All in all, this was a particularly interesting read.

Enjoyable read.
Siege is an enjoyable read, written by a talented author and the artwork is very good. The story deals with Norman's Osborn's New Avengers who launch an attack on Asgard, home of Thor. After the events of Secret Invasion Norman Osborn is heading up the much changed Government-sponsored crime fighting team. There is a lot going on in this book with a lot of twists. The ambition is high and the story is very enjoyable. The artwork is the best thing about this book for me. Olivier Coipel and Michael Lark do a very good job. David Finch gets a special mention for a really special opening cover to Siege:The Cabal (included in this book). The line work and colouring of Dr. Doom and Norman Osborn going at it is incredible. I am overall pleased with this book. Was an entertaining read. I think maybe 3.5 stars, but I can't give halves and it's not quite four in my opinion.

Norman Osborn Rocks.
Wicked story. Norman Osborn and the Dark Avengers and the whole upside-down world of Dark Reign comes to it's wicked end.One thing that bugged me greatly (but doesn't much matter) the title on the cover is "Siege".. Throughout the book, and on the variant covers it's stated as "Seige".I have looked it up and both are technically right, so I'm really just being pernickety. Ha.Delivered early and the condition of the book was basically new. 👌

Vraiment Top !

Awesome
Such a sweet comic. Great condition when I got it. Recommend to any marvel fan. Although you do need a bit of backstory for this one. Hit up Wikipedia first and read up on the events leading to this.

Seige Review
Seige brings an abrupt end to the entire "Dark Reign" era of Marvel comics, and it does so in an extremely satisfying manner. While I really loved the whole Dark Reign concept and the various storylines that went with it, it was a good time to bring it to a conclusion, and this series managed to do that in an epic fashion. Not only do favorite heroes make their return to prominence and public favor, but several evil schemers finally get the punishment that is coming to them. The return of favorite Marvel heroes and re-establishment of the "real" Avengers ushers in Marvel's new [self-dubbed] "Heroic Age." Seige offers great story-telling, great artwork, and great ramifications to the whole Marvel universe. I especially enjoyed witnessing the deaths of a few of my least favorite uber-powerful characters, including The Sentry and Ares. Now that I've read the core book of the event, I'm eager to try some of the peripheral story collections to see how well I enjoy those.I highly recommend this book to ALL Marvel fans, but especially those who are fans of Thor and the Asgardians!
