The lights string straight, but I did work extra to keep them in their tracks.
I used these for LED Rope Lights on the under hang of porch to light the steps and entry door. The brand of lights I used is UltraPro LED Rope Lights, 16 and 25 ft Classic Clear Rope. The rope lights come in diameters that vary slightly. But this particular brand slides into the track easily in cool-ish weather (70 degrees). Sadly, by the time I inserted 10 feet, some rope light was starting to come out. I left at least one half inch between each 39 inch length, so I used one of the plastic circle clip (provided with rope lights) in between each length and LIGHTLY dotted the rope light with white siliconized caulk. TA DA! They stayed in place. I was screwing these in with 1 1/4 inch stainless steel screws. On the slanted part of the roof, I used foam angles cut the width of the track, so my lights shine straight down. I cut foam the width of the the track (about 1 1/4 inch) and glued (caulked) the foam spacer to the track and let them dry. When I installed the track, I put a dot of caulk to lightly adhere foam angle spacer to the (underside eaves) of the roof sheathing. Hopefully, the screws will have more staying power when roofing is replaced. I drilled 4 holes along the length and left at least two inches at the ends so they could flex and meet the next run. I also elongated the holes by tilting the drill bit from side the side so that the plastic can contract and expand. Also, since I have caulk adhesion, I put only 5 to 10 ft pounds of torque to keep the screws from stripping the wood holes and to let the track slide as the temp changes. These tracks take more work, but the lights are nice and STRAIGHT, and more PLEASING TO THE EYE, up close or far away. And, there is little or no adjustment needed after they are mounted. I just taped or painted the small sections of rope light that escaped through gaps in the molding and drip edge. And I save energy! I saved 10 watts on my porch lighting. I removed the 18 watt LED (75 watt equivalent) light, and replaced it with a 1 watt bulb so the fixture wouldn't be empty. The 25 ft run of rope LED is drawing only 9 watts (per my Poniie PN2000). The rope LED puts more light over the entire porch, plus it adds drama to the siding of the house. By comparison, I had put a 16 foot section around my side porch without this track and it took several extra hours of adjustment to make the light mostly hidden, and they lights are dimmer on the side porch. Which is okay, because there is less light pollution for my neighbor.

Works for a while but will fail.
Installed in my patio cage around my pool in mid December. I installed the track horizontally facing sideways. The track holds the LEDs in by pinching the LED strip. In August I noticed that some of the LEDs were hanging down. They had fallen out of the track. I went out to put them back in and as soon as I touched the LED strip it fel out of the entire 200 feet of track! I tried to put it back in but the plastic had warped to the point it would no longer hold the LED strip. So I need to buy another product that has a front cover or has a lip to hold the LED strip in.
