Perfect solution for an alternative tuning
I have always used Shubb capos; they are light, compact and well made and with this one, I now have four. This one provides a perfect alternative to dropping the low E to D by covering only the five top strings and leaving the bottom E unfretted. This means you are actually playing the the key of E but you can at least form a proper G chord. Up to now I have been using a Shubb with the tip of the arm cut off and the capo attached with the arm pointing up, thus leaving the bottom E uncovered. This one is attached with the arm pointing downwards with a kink in the arm which allows the bottom E through unfretted. I have shown it to other players who have been very impressed, not even knowing such a capo existed. Thoroughly recommended!

Simple, reliable, easy to use - no buzz!
Tried another make with a more stylish appearance (not cheap!) but it barely had enough clearance for the low E string and required fiddling with the tension and position each time used, so in the end I bought this Shubb. It does the job well - I shouldn't have been surprised as I have been using the same Shubb full capo for over twenty years and it works as reliably now as the day I bought it. Lesson learned!

Opening up my options
This is a brilliant idea for instant drop tuning so long as you don't mind losing the lowest chord positions on your guitar, and also works for heavily-effected ambient guitar noodling too, since you can extend the bass to where it ought to be and still have a set of notionally open strings that can also be allowed to continue ringing. Even better combined with the Shubb 3-string Capo on an even higher fret (covering the 2-4 strings or the 3-5 strings according to which way around you use it) to get some creative array of barred strings as a basis for ambient moods. The guitar neck looks a bit gothic with these capos in place, but at least you'll get some quizzical looks.I have a fairly light and airy voice, so it suits me to transpose tunes such as Shenandoah to "drop-E" tuning rather than drop-D, and this capo makes that possible while still giving me all the options for a nice arrangement of the tune that allows for ringing notes without the need to stay close to a finger barre for melodic notes - you can play filigree bits that sit much further up the neck! Most of my material is home-grown, and this partial capo really helps to open up the pallete I am given to work with.

Works a treat
You can turn other capos upside down to get this function but there is a danger of slippage - This capo works a treat

Schubb are my favourite
Great. I already have one for leaving the bass E open and effectively getting myself a drop D effect without changing chord shapes. This is a present.

Shubb are the best and only capo for a reason, quality.

Quality clip-on capo
Shubb capos are beautifully engineered, adjustable to securely clamp the strings - no buzz or fuzz! The rubber damper section is replaceable if you manage to wear out the original - although resilient so will be long lasting

easy drop-D
This a great piece of kit. The ability to easily change to 'drop-D', and then use in conjunction with a normal capo opens a whole new world of possibilities. I find it quite inspirational!! This capo is made to the usual Shubb high standard. I find it works best placed just a weeny bit behind the fret - almost on it. Go on, get one, you'll love it!
