A Fantastic Beginning
This lives up to the legacy that Spice and Wolf left behind. I was skeptical at first as to what Hasekura could come up with in terms of a plot to carry a multi-book series, but he dragged me in by the first chapter. While it's chock full of Easter eggs from the original series, it's not done in a way to be cheesy. They work just as well on their own as they do Easter eggs. The pacing, I feel, is a bit better than Spice and Wolf was at times and shows Hasekura's development as a writer. I do think he still needs better labeling of who's talking and when, but he at least has done a better job of having the story do that with dialogue almost specific to individual characters. If this is your first look into the Spice and Wolf franchise, while it will be a long journey, it will be worth it to read all 18 books in order to better understand the characters and setting of Wolf and Parchment. That being said, it's not entirely necessary to do so. You could just as easily have a knowledgeable person explain the story to you and you'll have about as much knowledge. While I do hope to see a bit of Holo and Lawrence in the coming books, I am glad that the story didn't depend on them to tell this one. While there were more than a few references, they were necessary to establish a character basis in this book. By the end, I feel that the characters have more than distinguished themselves to go on without the constant name dropping of Holo and Lawrence. 10/10 would definitely read again!

A Charming tale of love and God.
Set 15 years after the events of the series Spice and Wolf, the child of our previous hero Myuri and the child our hero met along their journey, are now off on a journey of their own, to translate thenword of God. Cole is an aspiring priest who wants to create reform in the church in the hopes that it would benefit the lives of the people, much to the chagrin of Myuri. The duties of a priest makes any romance between them an impossibility, or does it... What will our heroes discover as they learn more about themselves and the teachings of God?

Excellent sequel!
This novel provides further insight into Col’s nature and does an excellent job of lightly filling us in on what happened between the end of Spice and Wolf and the beginning of New Theory. The author did a wonderful job of establishing a different personality for Myuri so as to avoid redundancy between Holo and Lawrence’s journey. This new story allows us to explore the world within th book and touch upon a different relationship dynamic between the main characters. I can’t wait to see what adventures these two get into and see the events that will lead up to the outcome previewed in the prologue!

Great continuation
Spice & Wolf was amazing! Different! Even with two seasons of anime in addition to the light novels it left readers wanting more and the writer doesn’t disappoint!

Beautifully written, eagerly waiting for the next installment!
Truly excellent! Exactly what I expect from Isuna Hasekura Sama! This story and it's pairent stories capture the world of developing society in Europe during the transition to the Renaissance with a clarity that makes one feel like they are standing right next to the characters! And of course the genuine warmth of the characters make it easy reading. I am eagerly waiting for the next installment!

Fantasti
Amazing story, so glad I was able to find This. It's basically a continuation of spice and wolf, but you can read it independently of s&w as well. I love the classic twist of events from the author and the occasional sad reality that has to be faced that's sprinkled in with everything for a realistic thought. Will finish out this series just like s&w.

Fantastic and Heart Warming
Isuna Hasekura melted my heart anew with the adventures of Col and Miyuri. Their dynamic may differ from Lawrence and Holo, but they still make a fantastic pair that have stolen my heart once more.
