Do this product have a spring to close the back shutter? Or does is use gravity to close it once the flow stops?

Can this be fitted on a 45 deg slop downwards to the outside vent and will it still work fully? Thanks

Oh not so sure it will stay closed at that angle. I have mine fitted on a flat surface and it works perfect.

Is this product suitable for extracting cooking fumes and steam?

Hi I have used this item to prevent a back draught in ducting for an online bathroom steam extraction system.

On an in-line fan. where is the best place to put one of these? before the fan or after? and does it go onto the fan spigots? or the end of the ducts?

It goes after the fan in the exhaust direction to prevent draughts returning through the vent back into the room/device being vented. It is designed to fit in line in the pipework and will need glueing into rigid pipework or securing with a large pair of jubilee clips into flexible pipes whether plastic or aluminium. You should find on a reasonable external vent kit that it also contains a non return flap, however if you're hooking up multiple rooms in series (i.e. on a single pipe), these also reduce the amount of noise which leaks through the vents
