Amplified Bible, Compact, Hardcover

I don't think the concept of the Amplified Bible will be unfamiliar to most people reading this review. It's a perfect buy for anyone who would love to delve more into the meaning of verses in the Bible without the knowledge of the biblical languages. It's a refreshing experience, and IMO well worth the purchase price. As for the Kindle edition - this is actually a perfect way to read the Amplified version. The paperback version is very thick, and very tightly bound, and I've never used it as much as I would like to. It's absolutely wonderful to be able very easily flip through the Bible, find the relevant passages, etc, without having to struggle with thin pages bound tightly together, or to cope with the sheer weight of the paperback edition. All the pluses of the paperback, none of the minuses. Brilliant.

The Amplified Bible with its additional translations and extra info, is a useful tool for Christians and those who are still seeking God. Only thing is, this edition is very small print, and if you have sight problems you may need a lens. But it you can't afford a more expensive edition, this is a useful addition to your library.

This bible is very well made, and exceeded my expectations for the price paid. The text is a real 57 variety mixture, but a top quality bean nonetheless. The provenance of this bible is assured, a compilation of the usual Greek sources, through Hebraica-Stuttgartensia to NIV, KJV and finally, the 27th Nestle-Alland texts augmented by modern Aramaic texts. Beat that! The amplified nature of the text is very useful to me as a person who reads and studies bible texts. After only ten minutes I had successfully used the text to shed great light upon texts (Matthew 11:12 for example) which have so many possible meanings and translations, and essays written about them, that I was beginning to feel weighed down! Also see Mark 4:12, Luke 24:47 and John 3:7 (15:1-10). To make it a little clearer, however, do not buy this text for reading; it is not poetic like the KJV, but a great reference text. Reading it is jolly frustrating because it is hard to read due to the abundant inclusions and additional meanings written into and referenced by the text itself. The book is pocket sized, and slightly larger than an 'oath' bible. So good to carry to your scripture class; and as I have said, not so good for reading aloud or following in church as you will tend to get side-tracked... Recommend for study purposes. I have the Good News and the KJ version, comparison is impossible. This Bible is a must have. If you want to delve deeper into the scriptures, well look no further. This is an extraordinary version that expands on the words that give you a more in depth understanding of God's words. Not only is it beautifully bound, it is wonderfully written and the translation; so easy to understand. Oh! Not forgetting the large print - Wonderful. Buying the Amplified Bible is a God send (pardon the pun) I will be sure to recommend this Bible to my friends.

My hard copy is falling apart - it helps you understand how the people of the day would have interpreted the messages of the God. It also gives an real understanding of what a Blood Covenant is - it makes Jesus so personal and reveals God as a wonderful loving Father - Psalm 91 is my favourite

I was never a AMP fan. A brother of mine actually blessed me with the New Testament edition which is very small. I promised to carry in my handbag mot of the time. True to my word i did. And everywhere i go i read it. After 2 days. I was hooked. and brought two of the theses. I blessed my sister with one who recently started to attend church with me. Praise God. Its an excellent study aid.. Its increased my appetite for the word. and My walk has truly been transformed.

If you are looking for a bible that amplifies and expands on the text, without losing the beauty and feel of the Word - this is for you. Read this extract from Proverbs 31 about the virtuous woman. Proverbs 31:15-16 "She rises while it is yet night and gets (spiritual)food for her household and assigns her maids their tasks.[Job 23:12.] She considers a (new) field before she buys or accepts it(expanding prudently and not courting neglect of her present duties by assuming other duties): with her savings (of time and strength)she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard. [S. of Sol. 8:12]" I LOVE IT!!!

i know this book is cheap but it really does look it. the glued spine means that you have to force it open to read the words near the spine. the pages are thick cheap paper which means aching hands keeping it opened. and it is very heavy and bulky, i can't see me carrying this to church with me. and i don't think it will last very long. the text is not presented in an easy on the eye way either. however if you are buying it as a study tool or just for a read through then it should do you. but as a regularly used everyday bible i just don't think it would be up to the job. Additional.......update... I have just bought a hardback version I got rid of the nasty paperback ages ago. The hardback version is superior to the paperback in many ways. The print is very clear and a good size i'm sure the paper is thinner and whiter and better quality. The hardback cover is solid and pleasant but also opens almost completly flat which is wonderful. There are presentation and family history pages. It's thinner than the paperback. Good size, good weight, clear text and easy to read for long periods. I highly reccomend it. The paperback was very poor and the mass market is too small, however the pocket new testement is clear and opens well and fits in the back pocket of my jeans so get that too lol.

I was surprised at the almost new condition of this bible. The presentation page was filled in so I can see who the first owner was, other than that I have yet to find any marking on any of the pages. I'm finding the Amplified Classic to be a good version of the bible but still prefer the NKJV for most of my reading. It's a good reference source when I find verses that catch my attention. It also helps clarify errors such as Isaiah 45:11, KJV or NKJV.

Ich finde es unglaublich, dass diese Bibelübersetzung noch nicht ins Deutsche übersetzt wurde, sie (selbst die Kompaktversion, welche eigentlich nur kleiner ist) ist ein so mächtiges aber gleichzeitig einfaches Werkzeug zum Bibelstudium, wie ich selten gesehen habe. Die Bibeltexte bekommen durch die Ergänzungen eine enorm starke und tiefere Bedeutung, es macht die Wahrheiten Gottes einfach verständlicher. Das Englisch ist recht einfach, man sollte sich nur nicht scheuen, das ein oder andere Wort einmal nachzuschlagen. Auch das Cover gefällt mir sehr, es ist um ein Vielfaches dezenter gehalten als auf dem Amazon Vorschaubild. Für diejenigen, die gerne einige Textbeispiele sehen würden, hänge ich noch selbige an. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung für all die, die Englisch gut verstehen und Gott besser kennenlernen wollen.
