Works for what it is make to do
I have not had any trouble with it. It took me a little playing around before I got the feel for it. If you have a heavy hand and want things done quickly, then this may not be the one for you. If you want to take your time and make something that looks great and worth your effort, then you may be on to something with this one, especially if you are a first timer and want to teach yourself. It comes with a great supply of various bits and gadgets. Remember, it is a battery operated device and being small, it does not hold a 10 hour charge. I really love the light feature, but it does wear out the battery charge quicker. I am using a magnifying glass that is mounted on a reticulating arm and has its own light that plugs up, so I have quit using the light feature. You cannot apply too much pressure or it will bog down and then the cut is not as nice. All in all, it is a great little beginners tool to try and learn the craft or whether you might want to actually invest in a more suitable cord powered device. I only recommend this for a novice beginner, but if you do not have a great level of patience, then you might want to reconsider something different. I'm not trying to make masterpieces, but maybe carve my name or initials on something or maybe put a little extra detail in something. I think it is a great device for a beginner and worth the price for a novice beginner. You get pretty much everything you will need to see if you have what it takes to pursue this craft any further or maybe you don't have what it takes and you didn't go broke trying to decide. Battery will give you a couple hours maybe, before it needs another good charge. Good Luck and may you become the next Michelangelo and make the next Apollo statue and you owe it all to beginning with this small investment.

Seems OK
Quality control is off: the abrasive bit selection box was cracked. There are two rows of LEDs indicating power, the first row does not light up beyond three LEDs; the second row does not light up beyond two LEDs. I have no idea if the rest of these LEDs are redundant or whether they should light up but do not because the product is defective.

Stopped working and bits were dull quickly
Purchased 3-1/2 months ago. Have only used a handful of times and it has ceased working. The bits that were part of the set barely marked the surface to engrave a name and were dull after one use. Disappointed. We figure it should have a one-year warranty but there's no information or way to contact the company. We're going through Amazon to see what's possible. We'll add more once we receive additional information.

Handy Little Tool
This engraver kit has lots of potential. Along with the engraving pen itself, it comes with three circular saw blades, two tiny drill bits, a box of engraving heads, a charging cord, and a grinding head. Once you've fully charged the engraver, it has three speeds. When turning it on, you have to press the on/off button a quick short press for each of the speeds. The quick presses must be done in quick succession, since any delay in between will result in the device turning off instead of switching gears. It does seem that the first two gears may not be strong enough to grind, saw, drill, or engrave. However, set on the third gear it has plenty of power to do what you need to do.The engraving pen has two sets of lights, one on the right to indicate which gear it's in, one set on the left to indicate the battery charge level. The battery didn't take long to charge for the first time, due in large part to the fact that it had quite a lot of charge in it when it arrived. So very quickly I was able to try out the various attachments. First, I tested the smallest circular saw. It attaches with a screw to a single shaft colett . With the smallest saw blade, it was very easy to cut into a piece of hard carddboard. The key to using any of these tools is to allow the tool to do the work. Putting too much pressure on the tool will cause it to begin to stall. The next thing I tested was one of the drill bits. Using the smaller drill bit, I was able to drill several starter holes for the screws to mount a pathway light on the ramp up to my front door. Again, the trick is to allow the tool to do the work without bearing down on it.In testing the grinder attachment, I found that it behaves most like sandpaper, more sanding the surface rather than grinding it down. I've also tested several of the etchcing tips, although probably not on the best material for it. I "etched" a pattern using a stencil onto a natural wood coaster. After the pattern was dug out of the wood, I used a wood burning chemical stick to burn the pattern I had etched out.I've not used an etching tool prior to this, so I don't have any frame of reference for usiing this, but in my opinion, this tool does a truly good job performing its funcions. I'll come back to update this review if I find out anything different, but as of now I enthusiastically recommend this engraving pen. I'm looking forward to using it for more advanced crafting.

This is A GREAT Tool!
For someone who collects vintage costume jewelry and also gemstones, this is a MUST HAVE tool! I've been waiting for this tool for ages. I have been using a Dremel, which was burdensome. This tool fits like a larger pen in my hand and has so many additional "points" to use for just about anything, including any engraving, polishing, removing nicks, etc.! If you have any jewelry business at all, this is a necessary tool for your kit!I rate this a DEFINITELY BUY IT item!

Not as expected
It his kit came with a hand heldtool and charging cord, a complete set of grinding, sculpting and engraving tools, a disc cutter, stone burr and type of manual. The unit charged quickly and is pretty quiet. I found no tightening ability to hold tips like a standard collet . I was exoecting a more powerful unit than this. The size is okay but not comfortable to hold for any length of time. I Have another powertool that does a better job of engraving, with the same tips supplied in this kit. I was hoping for a smoother, more professional tool. I'm sure I will find other uses for this. I will see if it gets hot after continued uuse..I gave it 3 stars and one more as it has a manual.

This product was wrongly advertised as a metal engraving pen..
I think the product is being mis-sold as something it is not...but I'm about to try abd engrave copper with it and see for myself...As I make jewelry, I feel thus product advertised as a product it is not!

Stopped holding the charge after less than 24 hours
For the price paid this is a terrible quality product, nut that holds the bits in place stripped & the pen dies in mere minutes after less than it being opened for an Easter gift.
