I tried using with and without the cloth cover and prefer without. You do need a stiffish brush to clean after use but you get well defined pattern on bread whereas with the cloth it's hardly noticeable.

Good quality banneton. Doesn't stick to the bread at all. Good size for a small loaf.

These two small oval cane banneton seem well made and have helped produce delicious loaves of bread. They are quite small but a great size for a daily loaf. I made a dough (150g sourdoug starter, 500g flour and 300 mL water) and split in two, half in each banneton. This seemed to be the perfect amount of dough in each, rising nicely to fill both after overnight in the fridge.I have not previously used a banneton liner, and must say that it made turning the dough out onto a baking stone very easy. The liner did seem to change the crust, making it a bit thinner than usual. I was also unsure of whether a lined banneton would produce the attractive flour patterning; in the end there were some lines but not too pronounced. Overall it is good to have the option of a liner, but you may wish to experiment both ways.
