Works great for an amateur DIYer, DOES NOT give bright yellow mortar unless you use too much
For re-pointing my patio, I needed a sandy coloured mortar. I discovered these types of mortar toners existed and bought this after reading a bunch of reviews. It works really, really well. I have since bought a second tub, and will shortly buy a third to finish the job.Doesn't seem to affect the mortar setting or workability in any way - but then you really don't need much to achieve a nice sandy colour. See below!A few really important (and really bloomin' obvious) points:- some reviews claim it made their mortar bright yellow. It does not - you just need to use the right ratio in your mortar mix (see below). Like mixing paint when you were at primary school...- some reviews claimed it made their mortar a horrible green colour. It did not for me - I expect they used too much & the mortar was still wet. Even with the right amount of the toner, the wet mortar does have a slightly greenish tone but once the mortar sets and dries out, it's a nice sandy colour, not green at all. Wet things generally look darker. Like paintings when you were at primary school...- For a light sandy colour: I'm using BlueCircle ready mix mortar (just add water!) & a 1:22 ratio of toner product to mortar (so 40g of toner in 1800g of dry mortar). To work this out, I weighed out small batches of different ratios of mortar & toner in pots, mixed the dry powders together, mixed in water, spread small patches of the mortar mixes on a baking tray and bunged them in the oven at about 180C to dry them completely. I chose the ratio that gave the colour I needed, mixed up a proper batch (couple kilos of dry mortar) and the colour was consistent with my small scale trials from the oven. It's really important to mix the dry toner and dry mortar together before adding the water to get consistent colour through the batch of mortar.

Easy to use and a great product
I admit I didn't buy this off Amazon as it's too expensive but have bought it elsewhere online. I've gone through around 40+ tubs of it so far for an ongoing patio project I started since early 2018. I've created my own slabs and cobbles using this stuff to colour the concrete mix. I cannot fault it. The colour intensity depends on your mix. I've gone for a milder sandstone tone so a tub mixes approx 2-3 full concrete mixers full of ballast/cement on a 5/1 ratio. It's easy to use, you simply measure out and add to your dry mix before adding water. It works great and I've never had issues with it. I've seen a few comments on here about this stuff not being very good but they are completely wrong. No, I'm not from Everbuild or paid to write this review but simply someone who's used this product for over a year without any issues.

perfect for the job
wanted to make some concrete stands for the wife's garden metal animal ornaments as they kept getting blown over. But as we have a buff coloured wall where they are sat I thought I could do a bit better that the grey concrete. This dye is great and works well. The only downside is being consistent with the ratios otherwise you fine some bases darker or lighter than others... as I have found. Otherwise it works well and about 6 months later there is no sign of the colour fading. Also, the animals have withstood some quite strong winds. Result!

Cheaper Than Slabs
I made three separate mixes with different shades for a concrete path, I slightly blended the mixes and and used a jointing tool to create a crazy paving effect, it looks effective and would cost a lot more if I used similar style paving slabs.I mixed a small bag of sand (cost £2.50 each) with a 1/4 bag cement, I added just under 1/2 a tub of powder for each mix and it added efficient coloring to each mix. I got just over 2 mixes with each tub.I will be buying a few more as I got the effect I wanted and decided (well the missus did) going to do the patio as well.

Easy way to colour concrete
Its easy to use and colours well. I bought 20 Kg bags of ballast so it was simple to weigh the powder on kitchen scales and keep the colour strength the same over each mix. It would be a bit expensive if you needed to colour a lot of concrete though. Some comments on here regarding the colour and yes it does dry a horrible green colour but give it time and as the concrete cures fully over a few weeks the true shade comes out.
