Sterling CB03CBK 10" Combination Lock Cash Box - Black

I bought this to use to store valuables in securely in shared accommodation so as to ensure peace of mind that nobody was snooping through my things. The box is sturdy, well-made and easy to use. I had no problems with setting up a combination code, and have used the box daily for over a year and it is still going strong. The box is also more spacious than you'd think in terms of fitting plenty of stuff in it. It's also better than having one with a key and lock, since as long as you remember your numerical code, you don't have the worry of misplacing the key.

The Sterling Combination Lock Cash Box is a small black box. Whilst it’s unlikely to survive a plane crash it’s still relatively sturdy due to its steel construction and features a removable plastic change draw which can be discarded if you either need more storage space or simply don’t care for metal money.Security wise it’s adequate. Would biometric security with a 32 digit key be better? Sure. Would I keep jewels, precious metals or rare Lego in it? No. But for small amounts of cash, or in my case prescription meds that you don’t want falling into the wrong hands, it works very well.The lock uses a four digit numerical code to open which can be reset from the default 0000 by using the internal lever by the lock once opened. This means that on one hand you don’t have to worry about losing the key, on the other a determined thief with too much time on their hands will be able to open it with 10,000 attempts. But that aside for most home, small business or office environments this small, black, well made box will be more then adequate for your basic safekeeping needs.It’s also available in other colours.

Bought this to replace a smaller cash box that locked with a key. Looks and feels sturdy, but (and as reported by another reviewer) on unpacking, the two top corners at the right each had a small dent and a slight scuff mark. It was only wrapped in cellophane, part of which was torn at one corner, also to the right.Quite easy to set the 3-digit combination. It's a decent size, the tray adequate enough to hold plenty of coins in the three compartments, and there's more than enough space underneath for banknotes, etc. The coin tray is set a bit low, and when transporting the box around, it doesn't take much tilting for all the coins to move about and spill into a different compartment. Some sort of cover is needed to stop them falling around. A spare piece of thick polystyrene cut to size to use as a cover can be utilised, however.A shame really that it wasn't packaged better by the manufacturer - other than as described above, it came only packed in the large brown Amazon envelope. As the box is strong and sturdy it would take a good hard knock to dent those corners, something which could have been avoided by supplying to Amazon in a cardboard box. Because of this slight damage, it loses a star.

To set the combo inside the box you have to move a lever from a to b - but the lever is metal, small & tough to budge. Had to get a torch to see how to slide the lever & a flat blade screwdriver to push it from a to b - set the combo & then push it back from b to a. Took a few mins but once done it works fine & defo worth the money

Useful sturdy box. Lock a bit fiddly for my Mum's elderly fingers

The media could not be loaded. All four corners/edges have damage to them but that luckily hasn't effected the functionality of the security tin. Simple to change the combination code to your desired numbers.
