Great set for anyone
This set is the perfect gift to any lego enthusiast as it is the best bang for your buck set out there. It contains all the basic bricks that essentially no matter what they build will come in handy, but it lacks anything beyond the basics.

Lots of simple bricks are good for creative projects
I bought it as gift for my grandsons, ages 10 and 8, who are expert Lego builders, and they are very happy with it. I thought this set might be too juvenile for someone who has built many Lego kits including large rockets, Technics vehicles, etc., but they said those kits were full of oddball specialized bricks that are designed to fit together into one specific object and aren't useful for creating their own designs. "I can't even build a wall" he said.Even the instruction sheet proved surprisingly useful. I thought the designs were rather crude (like 8-bit graphics from a 1980's computer) but I'm told they were fun to build and even taught the boys the principle of creating "inlayed" designs by deliberately varying the brick color.The cost is significantly lower than other Lego kits, but still seems excessive. However, I'm not prepared to buy no-name Chinese knockoffs...

Basic bricks perfect for free-building
We were excited to find this kit because it has a lot of basic building bricks (not a bunch of specialized pieces) which is hard to find!

Wish Lego would make more sets like this!
Perfect set for building. All bricks. None of the little itty bitty teeny tiny pieces that get lost. Comes with building ideas, but we like to free build with this set more. Bummed it's retiring soon. Wish Lego would make more sets like this.

My 8 year old wanted more colored bricks for her creations and this was perfect.

Classic Legos, build what you like with this set :) It was a bigger box of Legos than I was expecting, and that was great.
