Highly Recommend to Any Parent or Anyone who Works with Kids!
I would highly, highly recommend this book to any parent, and especially parents of a kid with big behavior, including parents whose kids are neurodivergent, highly sensitive, or have experienced trauma. This book digs deep into the latest science and teaches it in a way that is so easy to read, so relatable, and so applicable. This is not just a book on theories - it is incredibly down to earth with concrete ideas for the most stressed-out parents.

Best parenting/child therapy book I recommend
As a child/family therapist, this is THE book I recommend to all of the families I work with. I have been converted to Robyn Gobbel. Everyone that has read this book, has been so grateful. It is empathetic and practical for the challenges that families face, particularly families with children with early trauma and/or neurodevelopmental differences. I am shaping my therapeutic work around this book. It is THAT powerful and easy for anyone to understand.

Essential for understanding children with trauma
As a foster and adoptive parent and a social worker, this book is absolutely priceless. It not only gives you accessible brain science behind the concepts, but also very practical tools to use during those inevitable meltdowns and recovery times. If you're familiar with TBRI and worried that adding new material will complicate/confuse you, do not be - Big Baffling Behaviors is very "TBRI compatible." This book is an absolute must-read gem.

A must read for ANY parent!
This book is for any parent or person raising or working with children. My child is neurotypical and doesn’t have a history of trauma and yet I am finding this book incredibly helpful in understanding what is going on for him on a deeper level. It’s an amazing book and if you haven’t read it yet, you absolutely should! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!!

Loved the way each chapter is designed
Each chapter puts you in the office as the parent with this young person that needs help. Also appreciated the explanation about how the brain works.

Absolutely life changing
It's going to be hard to put into words the importance of this book to our family right now. I have read a lot of books. I am in every group on facebook for parents like me trying to help their child that struggles with behavior. I'm not talking about he talks back or doesn't pick his dirty clothes up off the floor. I'm talking about elopment, throwing, slapping, suspensions, complete dyregulation followed by embarrassment and regret and a low sense of self-worth in my sweet boy that I love more than anything. This book could have been written about my son. I cried several times through the book because I finally found someone who understands what we are going through on an every day basis. The book provides a plan that actually works. Have you ever read a parenting book and they give you a suggestion and in the back of your mind you think but my kid is going to react a certain way so that won't work? Well, before you know it Robynn starts explaining that exact scenario you are already predicting in your head and the steps you will take and why it's still going to be okay. This is the new standard of care for children. Even if you are just struggling with your kid not picking up their clothes, this book is still for your child and YOU. I have already learned so much about my own self reading this book and have identified when I am in my watch dog brain and what to do with that happens. I've also identified things that I do to co-regulate myself that I never realized were coregulation strategies for myself. I just can't say enough. This book will change your life. Get it and then get a copy for everyone that is around your family.

Accessible, honest and compassionate book on raising/assisting children with trauma histories.
I just finished “Raising Kids with Big Baffling Behaviour”. This is one of the most accessible, honest and compassionate books on raising/assisting children with trauma histories (vulnerable nervous systems) that I have ever read. The book is replete with the information necessary to understand the dynamics at play in “baffling behaviours”, ways to respond to these behaviours and, at the same time, acknowledging that there is no silver bullet. Honesty and compassion are the bedrock of Gobbel’s approach. When I read page 88, I almost did a backward flip. No sugarcoating, absolute honesty—in some cases, behavioural plans presented to parents, schools and organizations don’t address the core issues. Children are pushed ahead without the specialized help they need, escalating the behaviours as they age. We urgently need to invest in children and families.Gobbel’s book is so accessible that teens would be able to read it and gain an understanding of their own behaviours and/or that of siblings, classmates and parents (even teachers!).Excellent read.

Amazing, can’t recommend it enough!
I have a daughter with additional needs. This book has been an eye opener for me. Great insight into reasons behind behaviours and great ways to help manage them. I can’t recommend this enough!! I have told many other parents about it. I have read a lot of books on strategies and supporting kids with additional need but this just makes it so easy to understand. Amazing buy. Wish I knew about it when my daughter was 2 (she’s now 5)

Very good
It is a book that explains very well and with the approach of owl, watch dog and opossum it also shows a way of talking to your kids about it.It has some length in between and is very American but the content is really important and good
