Alan Dunn's Creative Cakes

Another good book from Alan Dunn. The introduction, materials, equipment, techniques and recipes are similar to his other books but very useful if this is the first of his books that you have owned.The flowers shown range from the simple pulled flower to his signature flowers, so there is something for every skill level. He also shows foliage, coral and fantasy buttterflies to complement the flowers.The section on 'Cakes and Sprays' includes ideas for the ubiquitous cup cake; embossing and cocoa painting; marzipan flowers; 'pressed' sugar flowers; rice paper decorations; stencilling and decorations using paper-punches on finely rolled flowerpaste. Templates are provided at the back of the book together with a list of suppliers. There are some good and innovative ideas.If you collect Alan Dunn's books then this is a must have.

Can't say i've read it, I bought it for the old dear for her birthday. She seems happy with it and i'm sure she made a cake or two since buying it. Apparently this chap is quite the respected fella in the world of cakes. Mind you, Stuart Hall was a respect person in the world of broadcasting and look how that turned out. Not that i'm suggesting Alan Dunn should be investigated under operation Yewtree.Just remembered, the old dear got me sod all for my birthday but i reckon that's due to a combination of tightfistness and forgetfulness in her advancing years rather than as a poor cake book purchase protest.

It's always lovely to see a new book out from Alan Dunn, however this book may have some repeats (since I have all his books!) It's still a great book with a lot of excellent flowers and really good instructions. I'm looking forward to the next book!

What can you say about Alan Dunn's books ... inspiring, creative and gorgeous to look at. I have already sued the book and created a stunning display taking different elements he shows. Love it!

With Alan Dunn you know it will always be very flower based, if you have his other book this one shows very little different, just variations on a theme. Some stunning crafted flowers though.

Another Alan Dunn book with use ideas for different flowers and cake suggestions, including the use of a paper punch from a card maker supplier for dainty butterflies.

a very nice book with some new techniques,beautiful flowers and arrangements.The Master of colours, again a book you must have !!
