Really easy for children to use. Lots of fun to be had making up word games

This is a brilliant set for helping little ones learn to read and spell. This is not the first set in the series, there is another which is aimed at children learning cvc words, like cat or dog. Instead, it is intended for learning more complex words, like shirt. But that said, there are plenty of vowels and consonants in the set so you can use it for basic cvc words too.The idea is that little one connects blocks with letters on to create words. The letters are colour coded by type to assist your child in identifying the different sorts of letter combinations. To help you get started, there is an activity guide, which is really useful for those of us that aren't teachers!It's a great tool for putting the letters physically in your child's hands and that may well suit your little one's learning style. And, as your child progresses, there are further sets in the same series to help expand their skills.

As a parent to a six-year-old and four-year-old, these reading rods are proving very useful for helping not only reading, but phonics, and how words and sounds are formed. There are 70 colour coded blocks which can be easily attached to each other to form words. The activity booklet that comes with the blocks is very helpful. My six-year-old is grasping this very well as he is in year one and has already learnt a lot about diagraphs and really excels in English. My four-year-old will be starting foundation in September so this will aid his learning tremendously. He is already grasping phonics, can sound out the letters of the alphabet using phonics and to learn the diagraphs will be an extra benefit to him before he starts school, removing some of the anxiety surrounding starting something new. His big brother has been very helpful in this. This is such a good learning tool for foundation and year one children, we use it almost daily, and for this reason I’d say great value for money and five stars!

Good product, very practical and a good tool for teaching English. Students did enjoy using it.

I got this for my grandson and it gets the approval of his mum who is an early years teacher.Learning to read has changed so much since my children learned to read.I must admit that it seems so much more complicated, but I've also seen that the modern way works, I was amazed at how quick my grandchildren picked up reading considering the short time they've been learning.This kit (according to my daughter) has all the right tools to work home alongside how they are taught in school.

I’m really impressed with this addition to my phonics kit - it’s a set of cubes that link together to spell words, using the different sounds and digraphs. Admittedly some of the words used here are Americanised which aren’t brilliant but it’s easy to work around it. I do think it makes a really fun exercise to keep phonics lessons fresh and to provide just that ten minutes ice breaker. The blocks are durable and click together really satisfyingly! What I also like is the booklet that comes with it giving detailed ideas of how to use the cubes which is always a good idea. I think i know how I’m going to use them though! A fab idea all round.

Great word building set from Learning Resources. Well made, easy to snap together and pull apart. Coloured coded to help and encourage understanding. Good combination of vowels, consonants etc. At the time of this review only £19 which is an excellent price for an excellent learning tool.
