This is the best hair straightener I have even owned. I have some crazy tough curls that most flat irons have trouble with. Even the cheaper version of the Sutra flat iron could not get the job done. They end up leaving my hair looking poofy or having that course feeling you get when hair is not straightened well. This one leaves my hair straight, soft, and looking great!One pitfall is using it for curls. Since it is an 1 1/2 inches, it is a bit tougher that a 1 inch flat iron, but I think with practice it will be easier.Overall, I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great hair straightener that can tackle hard to straighten curls.

Pricey but worth it! I have used Chi flatirons for years and this one beats them hands down. If you love shiny, salon looking hair, this one is for you!!!

I needed a good flat iron after spending less on cheaper versions, i decided to spend extra to get better results. So very happy i did!! my hair is more fragile as i age , i have lots of silver on top , with a short bob cut. This iron is phenomenal! I use it to give my hair a bend, slight curl and it works amazing. It's well made , beautiful rose colored plates, and very simple to use; 3 basic buttons, on/off, and temp controls, up and down buttons, and a clear window to see the temp.It defaults to 450 degrees each time it turns on so, be aware if you need a lower temp as i do.It's a bit costly but it's definitely a great buy!

This is a great iron for all hair types. I have thick hair and my daughters all have different textures and this works well for all of them. The plates allow the hair to glide smoothly without getting stuck or pulling. I really like the rounded sides as opposed to a squared edge like normal straightening irons. The round edge makes curling easy and fast and the heat settings allow the curl to retain for a long period time. Hair still has curl after sleeping on it. It also heats up extremely fast. I would highly recommend this over any other iron, especially if your goal is to get curls. The others are cheaper but if it doesn't work, as has been my experience, than it's a waste of money. If you can get over the initial cost, it's worth it.*Before and after picture attached of one of my girls. Her hair is a bit finer. Took 10 minutes to curl with this iron.

2021: I wanted to be in love with this considering it cost so much. I have natural red hair, that is dry. I use Redken hair products. I was expecting this straightener to blow my current one from Lange out of the water considering it was only $25. Well, no. Its just as equal to it. My hair feels just the same. Looks just the same. I read the reviews expecting much more out of this straightener. Also, its very heavy compared to my Lange straightener. It'll do for now I guess.2024: edited 3 years later to add - this straightener is still going strong, which impresses me! I have some long thick hair and this has surprisily worked perfect every time. My hair is long, silky, and smooth with use of this straightener. You eventually get over the weight of the item and start focusing on the long term, consistent use. I am pleased! I raised it from 3 stars to 5 stars for the reason that its not lost any of his heating power, use, or functionality even 3 years later. I think, in the long term, it has helped my hair grow longer considering this straightener is infrared versus my old straighteners. Although that comes in clutch with other great products that I use from Redken still to this day.

This is so easy to use. I'm a novice with flat irons. Other irons have been "sticky" in my hair or varied in temperature. This one is smooth and temp is constant. I appreciate the temperature regulation. My hair is quite coarse. The Sutra works magic on it. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I bought my first Sultra flat iron 10 years ago and it still works but it was not good on my hair. When I saw this one on Amazon, I had to try it. My hair looked like my hairdresser just finished my hair. I was blown away! This is my first day of using it. It only took two days to arrive. The flat iron was neatly packaged in the box and container. The other one I bought, turned out to be used. I was so excited when my flat iron arrived today. It took me half the time to fix my hair and it was very lightweight, compared to my other Sultra. What an amazing product! It is worth every penny! I love it and would highly recommend it. My hair which is frizzy naturally turns out beautifully. No steam comes from the iron or my hair. When it is humid my hair stays nice and flat. I use a little bit of redkin velvet 07gel the night before and lightly spray some baby bliss thermo shine spray and thoroughly comb through. I first saw it in the mall. I didn’t purchase it there because they said they wouldn’t take it back if I wasn’t happy and I knew Amazon would. I have a number of flat irons that I was told wouldn’t burn my hair, but did. This one makes my hair just the way I want it.
