Review PRAISE FOR DEEP BLUE "A richly imagined novel. Themes of conquering fear and believing in oneself are woven throughout, along with an acknowledgment of humans' environmental impact on the sea and its inhabitants. Despite the high stakes and a few frightening moments, the story is never overserious; it's just right for readers who have grown up with, but aged out of, The Little Mermaid and the Disney Fairies franchise." --Publishers WeeklyPRAISE FOR DEEP BLUE "A fantastic addition to the genre of mermaids, this book will also appeal to readers of action and those who appreciate usurped leaders taking back their kingdom. It starts with a common enough concept: a royal girl who is worried about her betrothal and about love. Donnelly then adds layers of complexity to the tale and weaves her story into that of Atlantis. Friendship, trust, and responsibility are major themes as Sera struggles to grasp that she is really her kingdom's only hope. Quick-witted, loveable characters and a well-planned fantasy world make this an all-encompassing book. Readers will eagerly await future volumes and the answers they will provide."--VOYAPRAISE FOR DEEP BLUE "Best-selling Donnelly (Revolution, 2010) builds an alluring mermaid civilization and history, filled with painterly descriptions of Sera's underwater palace and its unearthly architecture, her sumptuous wardrobe, and the menagerie of half-human, half-marine animal denizens. There's also plenty of romantic tension with handsome mermen, strife between merls (that's girl mermaids) from rival regions, and some powerful female friendships amid the fast-paced plot, filled with wondrous magic."--Booklist About the Author Jennifer Donnelly is an award-winning author of both adult and young adult books, including Deep Blue and Rogue Wave, the first two books in the Waterfire Saga. one of the best sequels I have ever read
First of all, I'd like to say, this book is definitely not for children under-nine, as it contains very scary and vivid descriptions of the dead. However, those over nine will thoroughly enjoy the adventure this book has to offer. I suggest reading Deep Blue first, as I did, otherwise most of the characters here will be unknown to you. Rogue Wave was far more interesting than Deep Blue, but to start with, I thought this would just be like other book sequels; no ideas left at all, just there to make a series and make the first book look good. But perhaps you'd prefer to but this book in paperback, as in Kindle edition, it is hard to flip back to the glossary.Secondly, I found a few faults in this story. I would have liked it more if Mahdi and Yazeed had turned to Traho's side, and I'd liked it more if Blue had shown up, instead of Mahdi being Blue. I found Mahdi's return incredibly irksome, for some reason, as when I read the first book, I got the impression that Mahdi had really changed for the worse. If you don't like Mahdi, don't read the bit about the betrothal, as you'll might just rip your book (or smash your device). Just joking! 😸Overall, I really loved reading Rogue Wave and cannot wait to find out more in Dark Tide! Yes, there is going to be another book!Keep reading! 🐬💎🐳

Great
I'm reviewing this now, at age 19. I read this book a few years ago, I think when I was 15. I really liked the series, and I know I enjoyed this book. To anyone reading this, I recommend Throne of Glass - the first book in my favourite book series.

Rogue wave
This is such an amazing book I really enjoyed reading this and think that it is a brilliant sequel to deep blue . I also love how it clears out some questions from the first book. The way the author ends the book leaves you wanting to know more and this makes you compelled to read the nextbook when released.
