Will this fit in my ski jacket pocket?

Great question, however, this depends on your ski jacket pocket size. All jackets we have tested had no issue fitting the full band when folded in a compact way, some had a tighter fit than others. We have tested and asked people wearing the following brands and they confirmed a perfect fit. Helly Hansen Alpha, Patagonia, The North Face ThermoBall, Patagonia Rubicon and Columbia Bugaboo as well as a handful of Spyder and Northface models. Does this work with XC skis?

No reason I can think of why it wouldn't work with XC skis.

is it strong enough to hold ski boots on top of skis or is the buckle going to snap?

They are pretty good quality. I usually am wearing my ski boots, but i dont think they would have an issue with the weight.
