A Hilarious Book With A Purpose!
Hilariously awesome book! It’s full of laughs, good insight, touches your heart, and gets your brain thinking! Also as a parent it makes me realize how I can do better for myself and things I can teach them along the way so they can be better humans. And listen you may not agree with everything that is written in this book, but the overall message of this book is on point and contains a lot of things that needed to be said. Things that we don’t always want to admit to ourselves, but truthful nonetheless. If a book can make you really reflect on yourself and your life and make you want to do better, or in the very least make you more self aware.. then it’s most definitely worth the purchase and read. Also, BONUS: the book itself is aesthetically pleasing and looks pretty on my coffee table!

The beautiful trap designed to keep all of humanity locked in a life of mediocrity!!!
When I saw this book on a coming soon list a few days ago, I pounced!!! The way I read the synopsis made me think it was a book for negative people who can't really be positive, and why should they be if they can harness all that negative energy to divide and conquer? My mistake, entirely, since as I read the synopsis now I see it's perfectly clear. I am a glass-half-full, and the water is a sort-of blackish color kind of a person. I've got negativity DOWN!This book, however, is geared more toward those who are perpetually positive, and really shouldn't be. I actually agree with this. I agreed with it long before I ever picked up the book, and while I didn't necessarily find any new content for ME, specifically, just because I'm already 100% on board with this band wagon, I think it's a book that literally every person in this world should read. Mostly because I really do believe that the perpetual seeking of affirmation, combined with a world where people are told "everything happens for a reason" (a topic thoroughly covered in this book), leads no one to actual happiness. And I suppose I can't speak for everyone, but I most certainly can speak for myself, since the day I woke up and realized that life is actually unfair is the day I finally got free of all my chronic depression. Terrible depression. Often times, suicidal, even. It turns out I really can't live in a world where I'm being told the bad things that happen to me are actually dictated by whatever powers that be, to teach me all of these "lessons". For me, life is so much easier to live when I look at what's actually there: That life isn't fair, and bad things happen to EVERYONE, not just to good people... And that none of them happen "for a reason". They just plain happen.I digress, however, since this review isn't about me, it's about this book. And do I think you should read it? Absolutely!!! It didn't offer me any information that I didn't already believe, exactly, but it was so vengefully affirming (yes, I get the irony), since I have long been of the opinion that being told (and telling yourself) that you're perfect just the way you are is a beautiful trap designed to keep all of humanity locked in a life of mediocrity.Yes, this book is all about negativity, with chapters talking about the dangers of thinking you're great, and how to regret your entire life, and then ending on the wonderful topic of don't worry, "you'll be dead soon". And yes, you really should read all of it!!! It's hilarious, blunt, yes there's a lot of language, and in the opinion of this particular reader, it's a book that would be a life-changer for anyone who read it. I don't think the current happiness plan is working. It certainly didn't work for me. Not for years. And how many years has it not worked for you? Then maybe dare to try something different... Such as this book!!!

Reaffirmed my mentality about life.
I rated this a four because I hoped it would be a bit more ground breaking. If you've already gone through the process of being an optimist and realizing that you suck and that life isn't fair, and that the only thing left to do is work your ass off... then you've pretty much learned the lessons in this book. That said, it was nice to find someone who so aptly describes this mentality. If you are feeling jaded or disillusioned this book will serve you well, and hopefully help you use those negative feelings rather than allowing them to drive you into a deep existential/depressive crisis. I'm not sure if it will help die hard optimists because it's been so long since I was one. Overall it was worth the purchase.

I'm reading it again!
I LOVE IT! Great read! This book is so honest and so raw! I can not tell you how many times I laughed out loud reading it! It's real life stuff! Sadly a lot of it all to familiar but I have a whole new perspective, thank you for that Elan!If you don't have a sense of humor, it's simple, this book probably isn't for you!As for me, I'm going to read it again in case I missed anything!

If you think you're all that great, read the book.
Made me laugh at first but then the language became a little bit vulgar and generally I had to step down a notch to keep reading so I didn't finish the book and stopped somewhere after the middle. Maybe cause I was never was anyone's centre of universe, no one every told me how great I was, I didn't quite relate. Basically I knew I wasn't all that great all along. Nevertheless, the book does hold certain truths and whoever thinks they're great, should definitely read it as they will realize that if they think the earth rotates around them, its axis will get them in the butt. The book will tell you exactly who you are. And who you're not. One more thing: I only bought the book cause I liked Elan's tweets. But he started tweeting a lot about his gf so I stopped reading him cause I got bored. My gf told me this, did this, me and my gf. Elan honey, you have a gf, we get it. And I have have a husband of 25 years. This whole marriage thing is not all that great. Unless you work on it just like any other thing one wants to achieve in their lives. No need to tweet about it, just live it. You know it and I know it. Cause we're Jewish, smart but mostly hardworking 8)

I’m tipsy & can’t stop reading.
I’m currently on page 35 & I love it , it’s funny & it makes me think about all the wrong things I’m doing in my life. I already feel motivated, maybe it’s because I’m tipsy , I finished a whole glass of wine & I just couldn’t stop reading this ! I don’t understand people who are leaving bad reviews! This book is just sooo enjoyed! Thank You Elan Gale , we need more people in this world to be just as articulate as you are about the truth in living this thing called ‘life’ .

The kick in the rear end you've been waiting for
I'm not a fan of the Bachelor and I have no idea what else this man does. I found him on Twitter and started following because he was funny and relatable. When I found out he wrote a book I had to read out of pure curiosity. This book is the antidote to all the self help b.s. filling your head and holding you back. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, the style is more like a conversation with a good friend. I appreciated the brutal honesty. If you're stuck in a rut this book might just help you bust out of it.

Powerful
At first, the book will disturb you and make you squirm when reality sets in. So instead of running away from your negative emotions make them work for you. Elan Gale will challenge your thought process not by trying to make you feel good but by challenging your insecurities and your fears. You only have a short time on this Earth so make it count.

Enlightening
So much truth in this book. People who are very enthusiastic and positive about life would despise this book.As a pessimistic person, I loved it, though I feel like it's more appropriate for people above 30yo.If you think your life sucks, this book could turn your life upside down.
