"Best Bang for your Buck"
It is extremely unusual for me to give an opinion on a product. Over the years, like many, I've purchased quite a bit online. Overall have done fairly well. This "product review" is the VERY FIRST AND ONLY submitted within a week of delivery. I have wanted/needed a heat gun for a very long time. I would guess over ten years. Every time I go seeking to buy one, some obstacle would block the plan & once again obtaining a decent heat gun would go on the back burner. I have several projects that need to be finished before winter a heat gun would be needed. With little hope of finding one that checked all the boxes & was priced right. I own several Makita hand tools & been happy with all of them, especially the cordless tools. I've picked up a number of 18V LXT batteries. The first Amazon search revealed the LIVOWALNY Heat Gun, "WITH ALL THE BELLS & WHISTLES" that I wanted, for LESS THAN $50.00 - I could procrastinate no longer. I admit list of features @ at a near ridiculous price expectation, wasn't realistic. For some reason I had mindset. I can't explain it. Seriously! The LIVOWALNY Heat Gun; Cordless (compatible with Makita batteries), Digital Temperature Setting (a MUST HAVE if needing ACCURACY AT LOW HEAT) & COMES WITH ALL THE GOODY'S i WILL USE & NO USELESS CRAP ADDED. The LIVOWALNY is an awesome tool. Heats up to desired temp in seconds! Holds the temp (especially LOW TEMP) - all day! Looks great hanging next to Makita Cordless Drill (Like Twins). It appears to be built to last! Time will tell of course, but I bet $100 to a doughnut this is the last heat gun I need to buy. For Mr Skeptic (me) to make that statement is seriously uncharacteristic.I have to say it again; All for Less than $50.00 (Amazon Prime) Huzzah!

Works well - a little slow to heat up
Wanted to try one of these cordless heat guns to make it a little easier when working on car wiring. The gun does melt my waterproof connectors, but it takes a while to get going. Also have used it on some vinyl wrap and the slow part is good so you don't melt the wrap. Has temp settings which is nice. For a hobbyist like myself it is fine. If you are using this in your day to day work it would be too slow in my opinion.

DOA
Took me forever to find someone with a 20v battery, only to find thatA) I'm pretty sure an 18v would have fit all along, and I and many people I know have a number of 18v Dewalt batteries so IF that's true, had I known earlier I would have popped an 18v in and discovered what I now discovered upon popping a fully charged 20v onto the heat gun, which was that:B) this heat gun puts out NO air & doesn't even heat up in the SLIGHTEST. It makes NO NOISE AT ALL, yet the LCD lights up & you can see the settings change on the LCD when you make settings adjustements on either the tool OR screen... yet NO AIR & NO HEAT WORK - MEANING, ITS A DOA GUN WITH 'EVERYTHING' WORKING EXCEPT THE HEAT AND THE AIR... HENCE SORRY NOT SORRY TO LEAVE THIS VERY NEGATIVE REVIEW FOR THIS WORKING NON WORKING WANNbe heat gun... I have a time sensitive AND temperature sensitive project I would have been able to handle last week when it was in the 40s and no snow, ice or even dampness outside...Since amazon couldn't get their act together though on other tools I ordered for same job, (were not delivered on schedule), I now 3 days later STILL am unable to do the work, and it's down in the 20s with PLENTY of snow fallen ontop of TWO DAYS OF RAIN...IF THIS FRIGGIN HEAT GUN WOULD SIMPLY WORK FOR ABOUT 5 WHOLE MINUTES ID BE DONE... BUT NOPE. AND I CANT USE MY HIGH QUALITY CORDED STEINEL GUN BECAUSE THERES NO POWER OUTLET AVAILABLE WHERE I NEED TO DO THE REPAIR AT...(ENTERPRISING CRACK HEADS DRILLED A HOLE IN THE METAL FUEL TANK OF MY 27FT BOX TRUCK TO STEAL WHAT LITTLE GAS I HAD IN THE BOTTOM OF THE MASSIVE TANK, SO CANT DRIVE IT OR EVEN MOVE IT TILL I PATCH IT, YET CANT NOW PATCH IT CAUSE AMAZONA) TOTAlly SCREWED ME ON DELAYED ARRIVAL OF OTHER TOOLS,ANDB) SENT THIS HEAT GUN, WHICH ALBEIT ON TIME, SHOWED UP DOA - DOESNT EVEN WORK AT ALL.THANKS YET AGAIN TO AMAZON!!

Melted solder
This thing works. I had to splice together some wires for my alternator connector and this worked like a charm. I used one of those Dewalt 5ah batteries, some heat shrink tube with a ring of solder built into it, and it melted the solder nicely joining the two wires. It does take a while to get hot and I had to put it on full blast, so definitely double up on shrink tube, but it served the purpose I needed it for and saved me $300 from the mechanic. Plus I have a handy new tool to use on heat shrink.

Does its job, but not as hot as rated.
I purchased this unit mostly for field repair work where my 110v heat guns are not available and a butane torch isn't necessarily a good idea. It will definitely shrink both single wall and double wall heat shrink. But as it is advertised at 990°F, it should have also worked on the solder seal type connectors as their low temp solder melts at between 280°F and 320°F. even using the smallest orifice condensing nozzle, this unit was unable to activate the solder at less than 3/8" distance. I suspect they are measuring the air temp at the coil and not at the end nozzle as the highest temperature I could record at the main output without condensing nozzles, measured pointing directly into the heat gun was 200.5°F with the maximum air temperatures in the 220°F to 240°F range with the small orifice condensing nozzle which I confirmed with my IR camera. This was all tested using a Dewalt 6AH Flexvolt battery. For a $30 heat gun, it is OK. But because it is advertised as being much higher output than it delivers, I can only give it 3 stars. As for battery life, not as bad as I would have thought, with approximately 10 minutes total actual runtime, I still had one bar left on the 6AH battery, for something utilizing a heating coil, I did not find this to be unacceptable. So I am not going to ding them for that. All in all, for general heat shrink tube, I will recommend the unit as a low cost alternative to the brand name units. Just understand it will not work on thicker materials or with low temp solder products.
