Preeminently Pastoral Take - Highly Recommend
This book is a preeminently *pastoral* address of the disorder of our fallen human nature, especially in our present moment. While it is written to be highly accessible at the lay level, it is not at all “dumbed down.”Given the length and scope of the book, Esget does an excellent job of giving a brief genealogy of our current cultural crises (specifically, what has culminated in technology-exacerbated narcissism, the transgender movement, and the race-baiting evils of CRT), as well as contextualizing it in the broader fallen state of mankind. The thesis of the book centers upon the question: what is the telos (or purpose) of man? With that at the heart of the book, Esget’s response to the cultural problems of today aren’t “gotcha” smack-downs or limp-wristed therapizing; rather, he draws the reader into a deeply sympathetic reflection over the evil (disorder) which infects us all. Realizing our common malady, the reader is then given concrete advice on battling personal demons, and therefore given a compassion for addressing those struggling likewise against sin - whether “mundane” (gossip, gluttony, porn, etc) or trendy, as it were (transgenderism, etc). Given that our current culture is obsessed with sexuality and racism, Esget gives special attention to these subjects, but his observations and advice are by no means limited to them.Spoiler: the telos of man is found in the person of Christ. To say more would be a disservice to how well Esget articulates this in the book.Anecdotally, I sort of went in expecting guidance on how to handle the “big” problems of today (as though I am righteous, right…), and was surprised to find myself stricken by my own shortcomings and nodding along to the pastoral advice and hope he gave. That dynamic alone was impressive. The author clearly knows his Church history and has a wonderful command of Scripture, as expected; but he also is well acquainted with philosophy and our current culture. He addresses the latter with the former in an exquisitely pastoral manner.I highly recommend this book.

True Life and Culture Trajectories Contrasted With Deceptive Trajectories
This book for me started out so strong showing from Scripture the "(Dis)Ordered" Trajectory of sinners who have fallen off the True Trajectory to eternal life with Jesus in a Resurrected Body. The focus on what is wrong with the Self as the Center of Trajectory is outstanding here. Then it attacks the deceptive, lying trajectories of contemporary thinking and trajectories of identity culture, that of doing what YOU the Self wants, desires, and especially the lie of this, that it is true progress. Esget shows this to be the fatal, life trajectory that Jesus came to set us free from. The concluding three chapters are right on focus on freedom from these deceptive trajectories.that our culture is on, and the gullible easily promote and adhere to. Here's a bit of his fine wordsmithing on this: "What could be more opposed to the Creator than the attempt to overthrow His created order by destroying marriage, family, and the love of all human life?" "That is how you can identify the works of the devil: wherever there is a disruption of the created order there you see the works of the devil." "Knowing that sin and death corrupt everything, we cannot place our hope in the goodness of people. It is why Christians cannot place their trust in the idea that the world can be saved through better education or social action, improved government, or fighting one more war to supposedly end all wars."A fine work for what ails our time and world. Highly recommended to read and reread, share and discuss.

Share the Good News
This is the right book at the right time. Pastor Esgethas done a wonderful job of summarizing Christianity in terms of today's troubled world. While enemies of God's plan are attempting to establish a new worldview this book restated the moral foundation apon which this country was founded. John Adams clearly stated that a country based on individual rights must be a moral nation. Unless a nation based on Christian principles is maintained our country can not last.

(dis)ordered
A timely read addressing (as the title says) "Lies about human nature and the truth that sets us free." Esget addresses this condition in two parts: "The contagion infecting humanity" and "healing humanity." Drawing on Scripture and other sound doctrine Esget looks at our sinful condition that has grown increasingly bent in on self and our own desires. He then shares the Gospel, the work Christ has done for us, and our future hope in the new Genesis to come. Chapters include questions for internal thought or discussion with others.

Outstanding book on human nature
The author addresses the root causes of the many challenges facing contemporary culture, particularly in how one should understand human nature. Showing how society went from a focus on creation and nature to an emotional and psychological outlook, he then addresses how this affects everything from race to sex to technology and social media. The conclusion sets forth a Biblical view of the new creation and a redeemed humanity. Highly recommended.
