Wife does not approve of grinding and wheeling....
I love it. I use it for cleaning parts with a polishing wheel and sometimes i fabricate my own tools using the grinder. My wife said shes going to kill me if i use it one more time.Pros - Runs fairly quiet despite what the wife says Decent enough H/P to get most at home jobs done. Does not vibrate excessively, well balanced.Cons- concerned for my well being after hearing my wife talk about it

Good for what it is, a cheap consumer grinder
First, it's best to be aware of what this is not. It's not a commercial or shop level tool. It is not built to stand up to regular commercial rough use. If you plan to use a grinder for sustained business or employee use, this is not the one for you - it won't last long in that environment and may get someone hurt. The tool rests are not robust, the lights are powered by AAA batteries and the eye shields are light and flimsy as are all the sheet metal parts. It takes awhile to spool up but seems powerful enough once it does. There is no brake so it also takes awhile to spool down. However, for a careful, occasional use consumer, it's fine. I say "careful" because one must be judicious in using the tool rests. They are neither steady nor sturdy, making them easy to move even when tightened to the point of breaking and giving the potential to wedge the work piece between the rest and the wheel if one is not careful.I'll keep it as I had no heavy-duty illusions when I ordered it and I can take the time to use it tenderly.

Decent Grinder for the price. . . .WEN 8" grinder . . . 4.8 amp motor
This unit is the best deal for a 4.8 amp motor, 5/8" arbor, 1" wide grinding wheel.----GrinderThat being said, I would consider this a good home shop unit and not a good industrial unit.Right out of the box I plugged it in and turned it on. Wheels were a little wobbly and gave a little vibration during startup. (just a little) But once it got up to speed it smoothed out. While it was unbolted to the table top and up to speed, I took a piece of steel and went straight to the 36 grit. I was satisfied with the power. The rubber feet held it in place. But it seems like the 36 grit wheel was a little smooth to be 36 grit (unit comes with 36 and 60 grit wheels) The Grinder is not something that will reduce a piece of uni-strut to dust in a matter of seconds. But it's strong enough that I think it will be useful in my garage. The tool rests are cast metal which is good, but they mount to the sheet metal shrouds around the wheel. My shroud was slightly irregular on the right wheel so when you bolt up the tool rest, it's ever so slightly askew of the wheel. I bet I could take the time to bend it into perfect position, but it's close enough for my needs. The lights are L.E.D. and each wheel gets a light. 2 AA batteries for each light and the unit comes with batteries.I wish it would have come with a tool for wheel dressing but it does not.I was going to get the Dewalt based on the reviews, but this was half the price. I am satisfied with my purchase.

Very well made, great value
It worked well right out of the box. It ran smooth with no noticeable vibration. The bad. The "lights" are pretty much a joke and run on batteries. I don't really need more light at the grinder but if I do I will get a seperate light. Most cheap grinders ship with junk wheels but these seem to be pretty good. I also have a 6" HF grinder and I tossed both wheels, they were out of balance and just terrible. This grinder could probably use a little more HP but you shouldn't be pushing into it that hard anyway. The tool rests are OK. They are not the quality you would get on a $300 grinder but they are cast and not flimsy stamped sheetmetal and are reasonably rigid. The "bad" parts are not that big a deal and the "good" parts outshine them. This is a nice solid grinder that works really well.

Wheel Wobble x2
The first one I purchased had a noticeable amount of wobble when you spun the wheels. I asked WEN customer support and they told me the item must be defective and to exchange it. The replacement had exactly the same problem. I took it apart and verified that the problem was either the nut or the small metal plate that secures the grinding wheels to the shaft. I put the parts on my lathe and trued them up a bit and voila: the wobble was almost gone. I find it pretty ridiculous that a $0.50 part is ruining the performance of a $50 machine, but I guess WEN doesn't really care.

Good consumer grade grinder
Good consumer grade grinder. I have not experienced any of the issues mentioned in previous reviews. It does look like they've upgraded the unit so that the lights work independently. I will say that the unit does vibrate somewhat. I believe this is a design issue and not the wheels. That said, if you're using this for the occasional tool sharpening, then it is more than adequate. If you're a professional and use it on a regular basis, you're not gonna like it. I tried out the harbor freight grinder before this one and it was a piece of crap.

This grinding wheel is OK.
This grinder is large, at 8 inch wheel. I probably should have bought the 6 inch weel grinder instead. But the only thing I do not like is when you turn on the grinder it take a while for the motor to get to full speed. It starts very slow then picks up speed. Also when you shut it down it takes awhile to stop. Maybe it is because of the size, I do not know. My older 6 inch grinder does not do this.

Motor location good for sharpening lawn mower blades.
Motor location, support guide angle adjustment, LED lighting makes this grinder ideal for sharpening lawn mower blades. There is a problem with installation instructions that instructs that LED be switched off before inserting batteries. It is a push on - push off round switch and you have no way of knowing whether it is on or of until batteries are installed. The light bracket will need to be bent to allow light to be projected on the work area.

Wicked deal
I was not sure how it would work I make metal art work and am super busy and have not even had time to mount it on my bench, I pulled it out of the box sn it’s been working since!! An I’m thinking about not mounting it now because it doesn’t move, so I can just pick it up an move it around and make more room on my bench
