Charleston Chew Variety Pack!!

Charleston Chew: Pretty Good Overall but definitely don’t ‘try frozen’ as the packaging suggests!
Those unfamiliar with the American ‘Charleston Chew’ will likely presume from promotional photos that they’re some derivative of Mars’ Milky Way bars. Whilst that might be broadly accurate Charleston’s’ crucially differ in having a far harder nougat centre than their soft Milky Way counterparts. It’s ironic then that the Charleston’s’ wrapper exhorts buyers to ‘TRY FROZEN!’ - definitely not recommended for those who wish to keep their teeth! The 3 pack Amazon sells retails for a perfectly acceptable £4.99 (minus P&P) and consists of 3 differing flavours: Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry. I’ve listed them in order of descending preference too as the Strawberry flavour is, to my fussy palate at least, something of an acquired taste. To put it mildly. The bars are of good size though sport a very thin outside coating of milk chocolate. That perhaps isn’t such a bad thing though considering the chocolate isn’t exactly what one would call ‘premium grade’!Nevertheless Charleston Chews are rather nice overall, come in generous portions and are a good, even exotic (to us Brits at least) alternative to the homegrown snacks we’re more accustomed to.Recommended.

I would buy this product again and recommend it without hesitation to others
Bit of a novelty American candy assortment. The nearest UK equivalent that I can think of to compare this product to would be perhaps a milky way bar, although the Charleston Chew's are slightly more chewy, not as chewy as nougat and definitely not as chewy as toffee such as Highland Toffee or, to use a US example, a Tootsie Roll. The variety pack has three flavours, choclate, vanilla and strawberry, I liked the vanilla the most and did not think that any of them were overpoweringly flavoured, so the choclate and strawberry were not very, very different in taste or texture to the others, they are all covered/coated in chocolate in any case. The bar itself is long, perhaps two and a half hands worth, so it could easily be cut up and divided between a number of children at a party, or if you are eating it yourself you can take big, big bites without the bar disappearing "all in one go". The plastic wrapper has a piece of thin card within it which acts as a kind of "tray", the bar can slide out from the wrapper to save the chocolate melting in your hand.I think I would buy this again, it probably is not as healthy for a diabetic like myself than cocoa richer or dark chocolates, which if I choose to eat I do so sparingly aswell, but I did not experience big rises in blood sugar while eating them as part of an otherwise carefully controlled diet (I also control my diabetes with medication and regular blood sugars testing). Having shared it with family members I know that they also liked it, better than some UK brands of chocolate and sweets.

Yummy but and alternative nougat without the nuts inside
So I wanted to try this since its popular in USA and I am from UK and thought I would try it. The chocolate one Its actually pretty yummy, but its pretty much nougat and kisses chocolate combined. Also the after taste tastes like smarties lol. I havn't tried the strawberry + Vanilla yet but id say the same just a different flavour. The flavour is decently strong but yeah. Not bad but i would rather have this than nougat lolWould i buy this again? possibly in the near future.Would i actively keep buying this? Nah not really

So Good.
I love to try American candy that I've heard of through Films & TV. Usually it's disappointing but Charleston Chews are great! The Chocolate ones taste like Milkshake, Vanilla is like Ice Cream & Strawberry is nothing like actual Strawberries but delicious anyway & they're so chewy. Plus, stick one in the freezer for an hour & it's a whole different texture where they shatter in the mouth. Brilliant. No wonder they've been around since the 20's.

Not good
These bars have an awful texture and not the best flavours. Would not recommend.
