Is this suitable for replacing the ZIP drive on a Roland VP9000?

I bought this to put in my VP9000 after reading all the forums. According to what I read you must use the correct compact flash cards or the VP9000 will not be able to use it. Seems it is more about the type of compact flash card than the actual IDE to CF adaptor. After reading deeper into the forums I ended up getting two "Transcend CF80 1GB Industrial" CompactFlash cards. I seem to remember the "Industrial" type is the key to making it work. Having said all that I have not actually got around to installing and testing in my VP9000 as I actually like using the ZIP to transfer to and from my PC. Sorry its not a definitive answer but after researching the forums I was willing to take the risk and buy it.

Is this item really only 1cm thick as i'm trying to fit a card reader and dvd into 5.25in bay.

Does this require connection to the PSU or is it powered from the USB header alone?

To the best of my recollection it is powered from the USB header alone. However it is some time since I fitted it and I no longer have the computer to which it is fitted.
