NOW TV Smart Box with 3 Months Entertainment Pass

I bought this box after finally cancelling my Sky subscription. I decided to try out NOW TV (and thoroughly recommend you do if fed up of main Sky package prices) this box was for two reasons:1) My smart TV was an 8 year old LG and so the OS was very slow for accessing things like iPlayer, Netflix etc.2) It came with a 3 month subscription to the Entertainment package. (Usually would cost £23.97 on its own)Aesthetically, the box is very small and slimline. It takes a little getting used to the menus etc, if you previously used Sky or YouView boxes, but it is fairly easy and comprehensive once you get used to it.Worth noting programs are streamed at 720p, not 1080p and certainly not 4K.It is pretty responsive - not lightning fast, but surprisingly quick for something that costs < £30 *Note* I have around 32mbps net speeds, which does obviously help.There is access to catch-up services such as iPlayer. You can watch live Freeview channels, and depending on your subscriptions can watch a selection of SkyTV channels live (Sky 1, Atlantic, FOX and some other top channels.) You can pause live TV (and rewind) though please note it doesn't like being paused for too long. In my experience it can mess up, and so I'd only use pause for a quick loo break, or grabbing a beer.My only criticism is that, coming from SkyHD box, I'd like the option to be able to buy a smart box with built in HDD so that I can record some of the live stuff. But considering most of what you watch via NowTV is on demand, or stored movies & box-sets I guess they don't feel a need for this feature. I'm trying to keep review focused on the box and not NOT TV in general, so I'll wrap it up there - except to recommend that if you buy this, don't use the 3 month pass right away. Keep looking on NOW TV website for good deals for new customers. I got a 6 month Entertainment and Movies pass for a little over £50. Extreme value. (but would probs only work if you use before the 3 month pass) so essentially I got 6 months of movies, and 9 months of Entertainment passes PLUS a smart box for around £80, which is only just more that one month of my regular old Sky bill. Shameful really.My new TV has Now TV built in, and so I will be moving this box to the bedroom when I get a smaller TV in there. Good product.

It's Sky, but cheaper and better. I cannot believe I was paying over £80/month for Sky- I feel like a total idiot! Now TV gives me everything I want (box sets, some Sky channels) for just £7.99 a month. If we want sports, we can just buy a day, week or month pass as a one off.The box is small, sleek and wifi enabled (unlike the Sky HD+ box). The interface is simple and much better than the Sky on demand app we were using before. It gives you your programmes you're currently watching on the home page, at the point you have reached in the season. In addition, you can watch things like iPlayer, all4, itvplayer and YouTube through this.The remote is small and simple, and overall I am just astonished. It's not usual that you play so much less to get something SO much better!We had been using the Now TV app on the Xbox, but the box is a worthwhile investment for ease of use with your TV.Just brilliant!

I love the NOW TV box it has saved me a small fortune. I was once paying ridiculous prices for sky TV and now i'm paying a very little amount for now tv.The box is great it has all the catch up apps like bbc i player, all 4 itv as well as extras like youtube, sky store and additional tv apps.I do have a few problems with this box on occasion though, the picture qulaity of the now tv streams were a bit pixilated on times i had to manually increase the bit rate, not too hard for technophobes just requires goong through a secret menu. Also the picture is very glitchy on youtube and often freezes on youtube for no apparent reason. This only happens on youtube and no other app.Still for what tye box offers is amazing and saves me a fortune, so i'm very pleased.I boight this while it was on offer for £32 with 6 months entertainment, a lot cheaper than sky and now waiting for programmes to download :D

Everything... just works. Such stable and fast streaming, crucially including your own small selection of sky channels for a small sum... is really great for the price paid for the box. The remote is rubbish, but works, the menus and EPG are not the best I've used, but at least they are responsive.If you're looking for a few extra channels (including sports packages for short periods), without shelling out lots of cash and having a dish fitted... this is the definitely the answer and a great step up from freeview. Pair it with netflix and that's all anyone really needs.Hopefully they'll be a 4k version soon!

On setup I receive error message 'activation plugin not downloaded:-4'. I thus could not set up the box.I looked at the Now TV web site as advised by the Box, to find hundreds & hundreds of identical complaints on the Forum. I tried several of the suggested fixes (resetting, resetting 6 times, etc.) but finally gave up.I then contacted Now TV online Help, who advise me to return the box!I asked whether Now TV has fixed this issue & was advised again to return the box. The person I communicated with would not answer the question.It is clearly a very common fault with this box that Now TV/Sky has not addressed. It is likely that some boxes are working, but clearly many are not. I recommend that you keep away from this box until the fault is fixed.
