The Tao of Fertility
THE TAO OF FERTILITY is a powerful, informative and uplifting self-help book that is a must-have for any woman who is having difficulty getting pregnant. It is written in an easy-to-ready style that intelligently speaks to the reader; it is almost as if you are in Dr. Daoshing's office, getting advice from him directly! I learned alot about Chinese medicine and its value as a complement to Western fertility practices. What I found particularly compelling, having gone through the infertility process myself, were the poignant stories and quotes from numerous women who had dealt with this trying condition. The co-author, Dana Herko, a Daoshing patient who attributes the miracle of her own hard-to conceive children to Dr. Daoshing's fertility program, further lends credibility to his healthy, easy-to-follow holistic approach. There is even advice for women who must, somewhere in their quest to have a baby, resort to other means of making this dream come true. Dr. Daoshing describes the road to having a child as a journey, and indeed this book is a roadmap to the final destination -- a baby of one's own. I highly recommend this book and wish it had been available to me during my challenging years of trying to conceive.

Really, really great intro to Chinese medicine
I originally bought this book because I had heard a lot of positive things about the use of Chinese medicine in the treatment of infertility and wanted to learn more. My husband and I have been trying to have our first child for over a year and, to make a very long story short, western medicine had not given us any of the answers or solutions we had hoped. Before we were pushed on to IVF, I wanted to see if taking a more traditional, natural, or alternative route would get us anywhere.I find the language in the book to be very easy to understand and follow. I really love that he has a female perspective to add depth. The whole book takes something that is totally foreign and unknown to me and breaks it down into bits that I can understand. I love how it has changed my perspective on how my body functions and the need to find balance in myself. Bottomline, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a "different way" to go about trying to have a child.

A wonderful book!
I picked this book up and vowed I would skim through it on vacation. I could not put it down the whole flight to the vacation (it was a 11 hour flight:)) This is an amazing read. I skipped the stories of other women's struggles because I was just trying to conceive and didn't want to worry myself into thinking MORE about other fertility problems that could arise in addition to the ones I already had.The book lead me to a total lifestyle change:I have eliminated bad stresses in my life.I have my husband and I on a very Dr. Dao diet.In addition I have become his patient (lucky for me I live in the Los Angeles area).I recently received blood tests results that show my hormones are at a normal level for the first time in my life since 1993 without the aid of western medication!!!!I really attribute this change to Dr. Dao and HIGHLY recommend this book to my friends and all!

Most informative book I've read about infertility
I have read many articles and books pertaining to female infertility. This is the most informative book or article to date. I believe if one follows the diet and metitation exercises they will have optimum health. This book not only helps prepare your body for pregnancy but promotes overall good health. I believe in the healing power of chinese medicine and meditation and that if you believe in your heart that you can be healed you will be. This book gave me hope that one day my dreams of having a healthy baby will come true if I do all within my power to educate myself and do my part in achieving that goal. Would highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from infertility, it's the most hopeful I've felt in mine and my husband's struggle to achieve a healthy pregnancy/delivery in the last 4 yrs.

informative
I gave this book 4 stars because it did contain valuable information. This is the second book about infertility that I've purchased, the other was by Randine Lewis (which i think was more helpful for me). The book was an easy read, it just didn't cover much if any about my infertility issues of POF.. Yes, I would recommend this book to others, especially those just starting the journey of healing their bodies.

An infomercial for the author's clinic
The book does have some great elements: the detailed diet, acupressure points to massage to increase fertility, inspiring personal stories. However, the numerous references to the author's clinic were distracting. If you don't live in Los Angeles and aren't going to be treated by Dr. Dao, I can't imagine that this book would be a whole lot of help to you. Also, I was surprised by the somewhat discouraging tone towards older would-be mothers coupled with advice about donor eggs and adoption; I think most women over 40 know their reduced chances and need to be uplifted, not discouraged further (although, ironically, many of the success stories involve women over 35). I think, overall, Randine Lewis's "The Infertility Cure" was a much more informative read, and without the ego.

I would refer women seeking help with conception to this book over several others available today. It does not matter if a woman never attends the clinic mentioned in the book because the knowledge offered in the book is priceless!

Three Stars
I thought the condition of the book was decent, but quite used up. But it’s ok.
