The sensor needs a neutral connection so you would have to run an extra wire from the light fitting for it to work.

I wouldn't recommend using this in a humid environment, like a bathroom. I rigged one of these in the kitchen, it worked ok coming on as someone enters the kitchen. However, if you exceed the time you've set the delay for, the light goes out for about a second before re-setting and coming back on again. This may not sound very long, but if you are handling boiling water, hot fat or using a sharp knife, it could be very dangerous.

What’s the yellow wire for? It’s not mentioned in the instructions.

Yellow wire is usually used for 2 way switching however this unit does not have a yellow wire in it.

I installed this but the lights stay on permanently and do not go off. I can hear the sensor activating and deactivating, but the lights stay on

Have you adjusted the sensors located on the side? There is one for time which is the time the light stays on.
