I'm a good FPS player
Very laggy, low frame rate, and I'm on XB1X with a strong connection. I'm a good FPS player, (Halo, COD, Destiny) if only my bullet would go where I'm aiming this would be one of the greatest games ever made. If I can dodge a man with a fully loaded shotgun in a small room for a full minute and punch the guy with my naked fists we have a serious problem! The lag and low frame rate make this game very, very frustrating. And yet I come back for more because there are so many cool, enjoyable things to experience in this game. If the shooting accuracy is improved this is a must own for every xbox 1 gamer or a reason to buy a XB1. ****Update. I'm giving it 5 stars because I'm having so much fun. I wish that when you win on single player the bubble would lift and you could roam the map alone for as long as you want and just explore in peace. Thank you for this very great game. ****Update #2 I like to play in 1st person mode, like a lot of console players. However, the vast, vast majority of us like to drive vehicles in 3rd person mode. Could the developer let us assign default perspectives so that when I exit a vehicle to shoot someone I don't have to remember to click the RB? Or when I get in the vehicle it will automatically switch into 3rd person mode? Thanks.

Fun game but beware original Xbox one users
This is a really fun game! It's adult fortnight with no building capability. The game has issues. I will not lie about that. Its laggy sometimes and sometimes it takes graphics a few seconds to render once you land after parachuting. And that's where it pays to have an updated version of the Xbox One. The later versions of the console have better processing and can handle the massive graphics in this game better and give a slight advantage in gameplay. For example I have a first generation console and will occasionally get killed before my graphics have fully loaded. In light of that fact, I still LOVE this game. It's fun to play squads and solo. There's so much randomization to each round that every game is different on a huge map. I have wasted far too much time on this game and will probably continue to for a long time. The gameplay is fun unique and always different. It's challenging and has issues but still gets 5 stars. If you like strategy, mayhem, and killing people, you'll love this game. Highly recommend!

A great game... if you like lag and constant game crashes. Skip and play Fortnite.
Unfortunately, I have an original Xbox One, and this game is plagued with unprecedented amounts of lag and riddled with constant game crashes. Here is some what you should expect if you play this "game". At the beginning of each match, you jump from a plane and parachute down to an island. If you happened to do this into an area with "too many trees or structures", then the game crashes. Let us say you are lucky to find a vehicle. Drive it "too fast" and the game crashes. As other reviewers have stated, this game has poor frame rate and has so many glitches. I am unable to fathom how this game was priced as $30 in this condition. My personal recommendation is to save your money. If you like Battle Royale-type games, then play Fortnite. It's very polished and fun. I've never had even the slightest issue with it, oh, and it's free, so there's that too.

A review from an average gaming dad.
Update 1/26/18 - It keeps improving! I've been playing on the Xbox One X since Christmas, and FINALLY - after many updates - the game is playable! It's running at 30 FPS pretty consistently. I've only been kicked from the server twice in the last 28 games played, which is a HUGE improvement. On the flip side, if you have an Xbox One then you won't be so lucky. My friends are constantly complaining about lag, loading speed, rubber banding, and being kicked from games. I'm going to bump up my rating to 3 stars based on the game's performance on the One X. If they can get this game to run smoothly on the One or One S - it'll be a 4 star game easily. Update 12/29: I'm addicted. I am completely and utterly addicted to this game. Despite all of the lag, latency, server, performance issues....I continue to play it, and the more I play it - the more I enjoy it. Once all of these bugs are worked out of this game, it is going to be fabulous. Due to all of the issue that it still has I am going to keep this at 2 stars. However, the concept is so much fun. Once you get the hang of it you will be addicted and will put up with all of the nuisance that comes along with it - just like I am...... Update 12/15: upgraded to 2 stars - even though all the above still remains true, I played in a squad with some friends the last few nights, and believe it or not - we had a lot of fun! There was a lot of laughing to go along with our attempt of strategy and planning. Before signed off for the night, we all agreed - lots of potential for this to be a really great game! Original Review: SAVE. YOUR. MONEY. I was so so so excited for this game! However, despite the phenomenal reviews as a PC game, the Xbox One version is absolutely horrible. Yes - I completely understand that this is a game preview, but it is not even close to being worth $30. This should have been a FREE preview! It even says it has an Xbox One X enhancement which makes me burst out laughing and wonder what could possibly be enhanced! It looks like an N64 game, the only problem is that it is 2017 and not 1997. The controls are so bad that I button mash 90% of the time. The game play is very glitchy and laggy. It's so bad that you spend a majority of your time trying to pick up items or opening doors by doing all sorts of button 'X' combos. Then, FINALLY, after you are able to pick up a decent weapon, you start running. And running. And then you run some more. All of a sudden maybe you found someone -!oh wait....just a car that didn't load on your screen until you were feet away from it. So then you run some more. Eventually I found someone. How exciting! I pulled out the automatic rifle and tried to attach the scope I found. Couldn't figure it out, so I just decided to shoot - because, well, after 5 games I figured I'd at least pull the trigger to see what it felt like. No luck shooting from a bit of distance, so I decided to get closer. After a few more failed kill attempts, I ended up running into the house only to get into a showdown with the other player. Me and my automatic rifle versus him and his frying pan. Yes....a frying pan! Guess who won that battle? Hint - it wasn't the player yielding the automatic rifle. Unfortunately, at this point, all I can do is hope that this investment pans out. For anyone considering purchasing this - DON'T. Save your money (for now) and download Fortnite. It's not even close in my book. As for me? Back to Call of Duty, I guess.....

Fun and Funny, Good Strategy Game
Fantastic game. I got it for my hubby for Christmas and also for my BIL, and they've both been playing almost every night. We of course had to watch Battle Royale on Netflix (what this game is based off of) to get in the zone. It's a great mix of first person shooter mixed with strategy, so it hits all the sweet spots. You would think it'd get boring, being the same story line: parachute in somewhere, kill everyone else, make sure you stay in the map as it shrinks all around you, and be the last man standing. But for some reason it's super addictive. The best part is at the beginning when everyone loads and you can see all the other players. People lay down, jump up and down, and punch each other. Half of the people are in their underwear and the other half are kicking them or climbing on stuff. It's a hilarious pie slice of the human race.

Updated Review after 1/10/2018 software update
I have not played the PC version and I'm not a PC gamer. I playing both on the PS4 and Xbox One mainly. Was very excited to see game after all the hype finally make it's way to the console. And when they say it's a "beta," they're definitely meaning every single letter of that word. Just be warned before purchasing this game at it's current 30 dollar price point. Gameplay: Lots and lots of potential. It's definitely not as easy as the PC with a keyboard to manage your inventory in this game. You're constantly picking up items and having to hit start then to tap around clumsily isn't exactly a great gaming experience. Not really sure how they'd resolve or streamline this since this game was clearly made from the ground up for PC gamers. The gun play is fun and they do actually make it some what realistic how each item you use works in the environment. Things like helmets help protect you from headshots. Very cool touch that you don't see in other games. The vehicles are also fun to drive around especially in squads. You can pile in your entire 4 man team into a 4 door and cruise around the map. Pretty hilarious outcomes. Graphics Again lots of potential. I play this on the base Xbox one and it's rather choppy and things don't look too great. But i can see how with a much more powerful graphics card this would be a really nice game to look at. Online Play Here's my biggest beef. Be prepared to be booted constantly from this game and trying to scramble to jump back in as your player aimlessly stares at a wall in the game. It's frustrating to say the least. Also, if a lot of players jump in your side of the map you will not see the world rendered until at least a minute goes by. You will just see blobs for buildings. It's pretty rare a paid game would present something this broken. Anyhow, I rarely review games but I felt like chiming in my two cents for anyone thinking of getting this. Be ready for some fun but lots of issues. I'd almost say stick to Fortnite for now till this game fixes it's truck size worth of glitches. I hold out hope that they will get this game rolling in the right direction by Spring 2018. UPDATE: After the latest update which dropped around 1/10/2018, this game runs way smoother. Still has issues when you drop into areas with a lot of all players close by. It will lag and buildings take time to take full shape in front of you. But the game freezes and disconnections have drastically been improved. The game feels much smoother raising it's level of enjoyment. I added another star after my initial 3 star review. Who knows, by Spring this game may be 5 stars in my book. Pick it up if you haven't yet. It's definitely much more playable now.

But back on topic is it perfect? Nope I'm on the Xbox one x and ...
When I bought this game I fully knew what I was getting, expect the lack of a case and game... That's my fault for not reading. But back on topic is it perfect? Nope I'm on the Xbox one x and the game drops to 10 frames if not lower on jump. But I feel in a matter of weeks that will be fix and in a matter of months Xbox one, one s will be at 30 and Xbox one x will be at 60 with no problems. I would like to see some ui fixes and control fixes. I would also like to see some vehicles fixes randomly flying through the air from hitting a invisible bumb is dangerous in buggies lol. But with my first game and a chicken dinner under my belt I really enjoy this type of game. I was playing fortnite and it's fun. The building makes it unique. That being said I feel it's a pc game.. It's Alot to take in and learn on console to get really good. Battlegrounds is off to a great start and I feel in a month or two it will be running just fine no issues on console.

Digital code means you cant return it..#Gotcha
Summary: Don't buy this until it is overhauled/redone or a real effort is reflected to make this console friendly. Let me start this review by saying I know it is early access and isn’t done, but I have played a lot of early access games and this is far from that. To me my first impressions (that haven’t changed after 5 hrs of play time) are that of a 3rd party phone game or a fps from 1995. If you are a fan of this game (and I am with 400hrs on steam), don't buy this for Xbox 1. It isn't the same game at all (in a bad way), it looks/runs terribly. The most notable One of the drawbacks is trying to use the inventory, it isn't fluid at all and mainly involves you slamming the X button and both RB and LB while you pray to the gods you don’t get dome rocked by a rando (random player). The second tedious and most agonizing part of this game is the actual combat in it. The overall graphics and look of the game honestly reminds me of "Golden Eye" a blocky shooting game that was acceptable in 1997 (standing still and trying to aim). I understand that a counter to this argument of why this game is rough around the edges (this product is nothing but edges) is the absence of “Aim assist”, and that might help with a bit of the combat but overall this is only a minute issue. This to me seems a very rushed and failed attempt to run against Fortnight for a battle royal game on console (not my favorite game but leaps and bounds over this version of PUBG). I love this game on PC, but it's a clunky potato on console with no real redeeming qualities (besides slightly resembling pubg). The last and most annoying thing for me after I bought this is I can't even get my money back since it was a download code they send you

Not happy:(
It wasn't the game. Just the code....which would have been fine but I ended up having to pay almost 50 dollars for shipping and that was more than the game itself. Was not happy about the fee when the courier came to my door at all!
