Perfect to train

I wanted this set so I could learn to play chess. I still think I’m going to need someone to explain it to me. It does tell you “are you sure you want to do that?” But I’m not sure why it’s telling me that. That’s where I’ll need someone to explain it to me.

The first product had to be returned because it would not properly start up. It would not do anything but show junk on the display screen. The second product board squares would not respond properly to pressure to make moves. Some squares would not respond at all, some only with repeated vigorous pressure. It was clear that those squares that would respond would soon end up with damaged (torn) surfaces. The makers clearly understood these issues since they provide (useless) advice on how to overcome them.

Not what I was expecting. But my grandson wants to work with trying to make it work.

I am including a video showing how it works, but I'm loving this! I read the quick start guide...which I'd highly recommend. They are very specific and if you follow what they say you'll know what's up. The LCD screen was more of an older style LCD, but still functions well since what you're looking at doesn't need to be super detailed. It mostly keeps track of the game and tells you when/where the computer player is going. The only things that don't come with the game/set are the batteries (4 AA) and a philips screw driver to open the battery loading area. Anyway, great set. They even have compartments at the bottom for info cards, pieces, etc. I'm a fan! If you love chess, or want to teach someone how to play, this is a great idea. It's also a great gift idea for any kids, teens, etc who are just loving chess and have a hard time finding people to play. The computer is kind of funny, because it will sometimes warn you if you're making a bad move. GLad I got this chess set! I'd highly recommend getting it. Just make sure to read the quick start guide so you know what you're doing since the LCD isn't super intuitive.

This chess set is marvelous for beginners and players who are wanting to improve. This game teaches chess through a breakdown of rules, reference cards for point values and special moves, and a voice that points out potential mistakes or optimal moves. The voice will warn you if you are making a potentially bad move by asking "are you sure? I can safely take that piece" or " "I am threatening to win material worth [blank] pawn(s)." Ask again and it will indicate which pieces they are referring to. Also, when a recommend move comes up for me, the voice indicates "you could win material worth [blank] pawn(s)." There is built-in storage on the backside of the board for chess pieces and reference cards which allows for the chess set to be travel friendly. At first, I was skeptical when I noticed how small the chess pieces were, but soon realized there is built-in storage and to make it easier to keep an eye on the LCD screen on in the the side during play. One thing that annoys me is your supposed to press down on a chess to and from a block in order to register a move, but it's bad at reading moves or it registers a double tap. As an inexperienced chess player, this set is a must-have! I'm confident this chess set will help me learn and grow into a good chess player. I can improve since numerous difficulty settings and I can progressively scale up the challenge.

This chess board works as it should. We had to go through the instructions of course but it was simple to figure out. My son has been playing chess and this board is going to go to good use. I liked playing with it myself.

Cheap, mis spelled words, contact to board and accuracy is cheap. Expensive for quality

It’s exactly as advertised. Great for beginners or those shaking the dust off after decades away!

This is way better than the electronic boards I've had in the past. With cue cards and lessons. It's a great beginner tool for sure. Or for the novice that enjoys playing.
