I started carrying these knives because they are so easy to carry with substantial blades vs the Buck 110 ...
The original carbon steel Douk Douk is my rough use EDC, paired with a higonokami XL I don't really want to use for the rough stuff. Not that it can't handle anything it certainly could but man the thought of messing up that edge and having to fix it-. I started carrying these knives because they are so easy to carry with substantial blades vs the Buck 110 (or USA Schrade LB7) that is heavy and thick and either takes up space and weighs in a pocket or must ride in a belt sheath. Using a ruler I measured the blade on this knife to be 3 5/16" ground length 3 9/16" handle to tip and 1/8" thick at the spine. So about like a Buck 110 for blade size and the 4109 stainless steel according to my internet research is a European designation for 440A which is a steel that has performed well for me in another knife. The stainless steel Douk is expensive vs. the original- about 2X- but I work outside without air conditioning and I would rather carry a stainless steel knife than deal with the rust and pitting that occurs even on patinated well oiled knives the very hot humid days that occasionally happen here in Ohio in the summer. This stainless Douk looks to be what will work for me on those hot humid days, and for canoeing kayaking boating days and for fishing days. All the Douks have a lanyard hole to tie on a piece of bright paracord for those water days or dropping in the grass. I will most likely buy another just to put in the tackle box. It comes with a somewhat nerdy dorky hipster sheath and a steel that is sorta cool too (looks like vaping stuff?). But I won't use this stuff. The whole thing looks to be a good stainless steel option for easy carry worth the money.
