I have a couple different welders of this type as I have extensive gardens more than one comes in handy. If you’ve never weeded with one of these you’re spending too much time. The tang does not go all the way through the handle but it is sturdy and not been an issue.

This holds an edge amazingly well. I not only use it to pull weeds in the garden but to strip bark off of stakes I cut and I've used it a LOT and it's as sharp as when it was brand new. It's great for popping wild violet out of my strawberry patch, I can get the tip under the rhizome and then just pop it out without disturbing the strawberries right next to them. Good for weeding in close to other plants. It's probably my favorite garden tool lately.

This tool is exactly what I was looking for. It pulls tiny weeds out by the root and leaves most of the grass. Took me a little over 1/2 hour to fill a 5 gallon bucket. It doesn't work that well with bigger weeds like dandylions, but that isn't what I bought it for. I rate it 5 stars for the purpose that I bought it for, but 4 overall so that others can see it's not perfect.

An excellent weeder

We joke that this tool can move mountains(of dirt). It is almost true. I dig trenches, holes for planting, clear entire garden areas, weed…. Just about and garden task that involves moving earth or plants. It’s a mighty hand tool! Obviously it does not do the job of heavy equipment but it does make quick work of daily gardening chores of weeding and planting, loosening soil. I have carried this tool halfway around the world to give as gifts. It is so sturdy, we have one that is 30 years old.

The sickle is good and sharp. The tang only goes into the hardwood handle about an inch and a half. It is made in China. The Asian writing is google translated to "stainless steel cutlery". I don't think I would buy this again due to the tang length.

This is a handy weeding tool. As a professional gardener, I've trained many employees. This tool is meant to be used parallel to the surface of the earth, getting under roots and scopping the weeds out in tact as much as possible. Don't just cut them off at the top. Cutting the roots of weeds will encourage them to grow back. I've seen some workers use this tool with a hammer motion. Don't do that. It will only dull the blade if you hit rocks (commonplace in the northeast). I find this particular weeding sickle holds up the longest compared to others I have tried.

I got to use this for the first time today. Loosening up the soil that I previously loosened up which had weeds growing back. I love how simple this gardening tool is! Just be careful as it can be very easy to stab yourself. Something I should have bought years ago, as I've been in the flowerbed business for a long time. It is worth the amount that I paid. I could easily get another one just for the house.
