A great electrical item .
Great piece of kit to know if an electric cable has electricity ‘ live’ or has no current running through it . I’m very pleased

It’s good
Good enough for some jobs on a DIY level and if you have nothing else then it’s fine as it works and certainly indicates live power .The price is really low and you seem to get a lot for your money .I just couldn’t trust it on larger jobs so invested in another much more expensive but for me I felt I could trust when it comes to working with electrics

Useful tool, but inaccurate.
The media could not be loaded. ⚡ This is a handy probe tester that comes ready to go with a pre-installed battery. The display is backlit, and there is also a small torch provided, in case you are working in a dark place. The tester probe is configured as a screw driver, which is handy.⚡ The most useful feature of this unit is the passive detection of mains power in a cable without having to use a multimeter. This is especially useful when trying to sort out existing wiring and identify which cables belong to which circuit. There are more professional ways of doing this, but this tool is nevertheless useful in that regard.⚡ I found that it can detect mains electricity in a cable, provided it is near the live conductor. If you position the detector over the earth wire, then you get no reading at all, which might lead you to think that the cable is faulty. Just ensure that you do thorough testing before jumping to conclusions.⚡ I tend to think that if you are inexperienced with working with mains electricity, then you should leave well alone and not go poking into a mains socket. The illustration on the product information is an example of artistic licence, as all UK mains sockets have shrouded connectors controlled by the earth pin. If you are able to insert a tool into the hole, then you may have bigger problems with the socket itself. Hopefully you can see from my video, where I tested the scenario in the pictures, that it just doesn’t work unless you interfere with the earth's pin shroud. You do hear the beeping, so it is detecting that power is present.⚡ The voltage readings were inaccurate, at 222 volts, whereas the precise reading was 244.8 volts. The display does flash red to show you that a high voltage reading has been detected, which is a good feature. All the other functions work as expected, although the battery polarity is not very useful as batteries are marked with their polarity anyway. Be careful when using the continuity tester on aluminium objects or AL-coated or terminated wires, as you can get inconsistent results due to surface oxidation.
