Seeious toaster!
Love the look and the versatility of this toaster. 2 long slices or 4 regular slices plus a really useful large warming rack. Very good heat level - toasts quickly and crisp. Great toaster and great service.

Experiment a little before condemning it !
Looking at all the reviews I wasn’t going to order this toaster but I needed a long slot toaster as my second Kenwood once again blew up just after the guarantee ran out so this to me looked good despite the poor reviews I thought I’d draw my own conclusions. First try was with frozen bread, not very good at all, one side white the other burnt ! Next, fresh Warburtons toastie, read somewhere setting 2.3 was good for this so set the same, result.....perfect light golden all over, tried 2 more pieces on same setting perfect again. Tried next day and it popped up a little under done so pushed it back down again and stood over it lifting slots occasionally until done to liking, fine, that’ll do me I thought and it toasts evenly. Ok so frozen bread not to good but I don’t cook from frozen that often so don’t mind. Build quality is very good plus it feels solid and well built. I’ll see how it goes and update if any problems. Would recommend this product now I’ve tested, the browning control is very sensitive just a couple of clicks either way can make a big difference and I think that’s the problem other reviewers may of had. Experiment to get it right. Hope this helps in your decision to buy or not.

Good, effective toaster
This toaster feels like a solid build and good quality. It toasts pretty evenly, but only really the level 2-3 toasting range gets used by us (otherwise it's not toasted or near burnt) - although that could vary with different bread types I guess. It has good wide and long slots, comfortably taking thick cut slices, muffins etc. It has a rather over-exuberant eject function that sometimes throws the lighter things out all together, but we really like the lever to check it without stopping the toasting, and overall we're pleased with this.

My wife is delighted with these items.
And when your wife approves of something, you know it's good quality and value. The toaster is large enough for 4 slices of bread and with the adjustable facility you can't go wrong. The kettle is a convenient size and boils water quickly compared to the one it replaced. Both the toaster and the kettle are extremely easy to keep clean being stainless steel and always look smart on the kitchen worktop. I would recommend these without any hesitation.

Shockingly bad
I thought after all the bad reviews a company like Dualit would have sorted out the problems with this toaster. When it arrived I was surprised at how thin the plastic case is. It bends and then the action is really tinny and cheap. So cheap in fact that the toaster didn't stay down. The latch didn't work. If it worked as it should have done the toaster would be worth about £25 at the most. It must be made in some far away land. It bears no resemblance to the classic Dualit. I sent it straight back for a refund and Amazon were great at handling that bit. I then went on to buy a two slot / long slot SMEG and wow! what a difference. The Smeg is really well made, feels solid and toasts my homemade bread perfectly evenly. The build quality and design are worlds apart. Do not buy this 'lite' toaster by Dualit, it's rubbish. :(

Too powerful
I've had this toaster for over 6 months and I've decided to sell it on, it toasts too quickly and the edges/crusts of the bread seem get burnt very quickly. Give me a cheaper toaster that toasts slowly and evenly, although cheap ones don't have the lift and peak function which is one of the reasons I bought this. Not a cheap toaster, it is very well built, if you don't mind standing by the toaster and want it quick and are ok with moving the toast to try and get an even toast, then this could be for you. Sourdough, forget it, burns at the ends and definitely one side is more toasted than the other. Maybe I got a faulty one but other reviews do mention the burning at the edges and the fact it is almost too powerful! I had the expensive Magimix vision toaster before this one, it never toasted evenly and the elements went after 5 years which are not cheap to replace, so ditched that one too. I stayed at a friends recently and made toast in their £30 cheap as chips toaster, it did a better job than either of the expensive ones above! The search goes on.

Powerful toaster
Great long slot 4 slice toaster. Still getting used to it as it toasts very quickly and will burn if tou don't keep an eye on it. The lift function to check during toasting is really useful as is the warming rack.

Well made, stylish (subjective I know) and British made.
Okay, so this isn't the cheapest toaster around, but I like the style and I very much like that Dualit are a long standing British company - a bit of history in the kitchen.
