Q: How much litter is recommended to put in this box?

I use Boxicat litter in this litterbox at about 3 - 4 inches deep. This litterbox works great for me and my fur babies. I have 3 of them in different locations of my home and cleanup is a snap. Litter and litterboxes are a matter of preference, everyone is different; that said, I would highly recommend this Modkat litterbox for functionality, style and ease of use. Boxicat extra strength litter is a perfect compliment to complete the set....again, just my humble opinion... Good Luck!

Q: My cat has a habit of walking in the box and peeing standing up. Is the front of the box high enough to keep her from peeing over the edge?

The Modkat Litter Tray dimensions are: 20.25" L x 14" W x 9" H (15" H with optional splash guard). Entrance height: 6.25" from floor. Q: Will the paperboard liners work in this model?

I use paper board inside them! They are not the exact size so there's a small gap but it's still a lot easier to clean up and their liner lasts longer when I do this.

Q: Is the liner waterproof, or will the urine soak through over time? Some Modkat customer reviews say the urine seeps through, so just checking.

If you let the litter get too low, and the pee gets down to a seam in the liner and pools there, it will soak through the seam. The liner is thick tarp material, and as long as you don’t tear it or wear through with a metal scoop, it’s waterproof. But keep the box full of clumping litter and you will be fine.
