great - be sure you have four 5-gallon containers
I will give it 5 stars as it fairly easy to use, but I will not know for sure until a year passes as to whether it kept the roots out of my sewer line. Please remember that once you pour the mixture down your sewer line, have those four 5 gallon water containers filled up and ready to pour in because once you start pouring the water in, it immediately starts foaming and you need to keep pouring the water in until all of the water is emptied out of the containers. I bought the 4 pound container with the funnel (applicator) and it requires 5 gallons of water per pound.

Great Product. Works great.
I had Roto Rooter come out to snake out my drain about eight months ago. He informed me that he could not get all of the roots. That the next big rain storm. The basement most likely would flood again. He offered an expensive service to get rid of the roots. I decided to decline and do my own research. I came across this checking out reviews. I ordered this and followed the directions. Poured this down the main drain in the basement. Worked out great. No more flooding in the basement. Thumbs up for me.

Best root killer I've found
We have issues with scrub oak & pine tree roots getting into our ~75-year-old clay pipe drain line(s) going to our septic tank. We have the system scoped every few years and the line itself is fine. But the roots sneak in at the joints so we use a root killer at least once a year. ROOTX has worked the 'best' of the various brands we've tried. You do need to use as directed and have plenty of water at hand before you start using it. Otherwise, it'll 'foam' back out the cleanout opening! Killed a good-sized area of grass around the cleanout the 1st time I used it because I had 4, 2.5-gallon water carriers and couldn't pour the water in fast enough. (LOL) Now I use 2, 5-gallon carriers and have the 2nd one sitting 'ready to go' right next to me before I start pouring the ROOTX in.

So far so good
This came highly recommended to me by my plumber to clear tree roots in my pipes. Be sure not to breathe any of it in. I can see why the package is designed the way it is. Instruction video is very clear. If you were thinking of getting 4lbs and doing 2lb at a time down the toilet, don't. Just get 2lbs separately. The way it's designed is one time use.

This stuff seems to give me about 6 years of flushing freedom
Its hard to know for sure, but it seems like this stuff works pretty well. I have trees growing on top of my trees and that is a sewer challenge. They cut out a lot of roots when Mr Roto comes by. Then I remember to do Root X for a year or so. And then I forget. And then I call him again in 5 years. I suspect it would be less often if I was more reliable in my application scheduling. Maybe amazon sells calendars.
