The Railway Children: Illustrated

The stories are great; I remember them from decades ago; and this edition specifies "illustrated." So I thought it would be a good gift for a boy who reads on the 4th-grade level. But the print is too small and fine for a young reader, and even for a parent reading aloud in a darkened room at bedtime. Why is this story, meant for young readers, not printed in a typeface and font size appropriate to the intended readers? I've returned it, and shall seek another edition, with easily-readable print, so this wonderful story can be enjoyed, not struggled over.

7 year old boy read this (with encouragement required!) and really enjoyed it. This is a classic book and may be 80 years old but its still accessible and is blissfully free of the political agendas people like to smuggle into kids books these days.

Bought this book to deliver it to a family with three children (ages 5 - 12). Their mother says they all enjoyed it. They read it together. Now they are watching the most recent movie of the book. A great resource for days of stay at home orders.

Evelyn Nesbit books are always wonderful. No magic in this one but still great adventures. And always great writing.

I really enjoyed this one. I recomend this book to families who like a funny and emotional story! Also recommend The Wind and the Willows  The Wind In the Willows: Illustrated  beautiful illustrations.

This is a beautiful,innocent,delightful,charming story suitable to read to a child as young as six years old. A classic lovely heartwarming uplifting joy

Every child should have a copy of this on their book shelf. Wonderfully innocent story of childhood and simple heroes. Captivating the imagination of generations, it's an English classic.

My 9 year old granddaughter really enjoyed it, she said it was 'amazing'. She can't wait to see the film now
