Buy Same Time Next Summer: The unforgettable new escapist romance from the author of NORA GOES OFF SCRIPT! by Monaghan, Annabel (ISBN: 9781399718028) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Refreshing late summer read - I loved everything about this book, the characters, the setting and the story. It was a perfect way to lengthen the summer. Review: Gives me Sweet Home Alabama vibes (in a good way) - Argh! I read this with about 10 other books and forgot to write a review. Sam and Wyatt were childhood sweethearts whose families spent every summer on Long Island at their beach houses. Then 'the thing' happened, they split up and Sam has been avoiding the Beach House ever since, choosing instead to spend all year in New York. However, her fiancé Jack is keen to plan their wedding at a local venue, over Sam's objections, and has insisted that they spend a few weeks at the Beach House, not realising how different everything will be. Practically the first thing that happens is that Sam runs into Wyatt again, apparently he is organising a music festival in town. As the weeks wile away, Sam recalls her bygone summers as a child with Wyatt and begins to compare and contrast Wyatt's easy-going, genuine kindness with Jack's (and his family's) snobbery. Sam is going to have to decide whether she chooses the life she and Jack have created, her job, her apartment, the swanky wedding, etc or the life she had before. I really enjoyed this and it is only now, several weeks later that I realise it has very similar bones to Sweet Home Alabama - totally different story but same (sort of) plot - IDK if that makes any sense? Anyhoo, that is still one of my favourite films so having a novel with the same vibes is a good thing in my book.

Gives me Sweet Home Alabama vibes (in a good way)
Argh! I read this with about 10 other books and forgot to write a review. Sam and Wyatt were childhood sweethearts whose families spent every summer on Long Island at their beach houses. Romantic summer vibe
I think this story had a bit of everything – first love, heartbreak, redemption. Loved the characters, particularly Wyatt. Sam took a while to find herself but I did want her to get what she wanted. The sub-plot about the quirky parents was an interesting twist on the betrayal front. Really enjoyed the summer vibe and found it hard to put down. Highly recommended.

Undemanding read
An easy read though entirely predictable. Nothing really happened and I didn’t really warm to Sam or Wyatt, particularly Sam. That being said, I did finish the book and I was looking for an undemanding read at the time.

A fun read
A great summer read. I enjoyed the story and the book wasn’t too long like some.

Great Summer Read
I loved Nora Goes Off Script; it's one of my favourite romance novels, so Same Time Next Summer was an absolute must-buy. I'll admit, I started off feeling frustrated. I wanted to be sucked in. And yet. No sooner had the story begun, great swathes of back story was introduced, and at times I found it heavy-going, partly because it felt like a lot of 'telling' over 'showing'. However, once we got back to 'Now' I felt the story picked up again and I was racing to get to the end. In Wyatt I was hoping for Leo Vance v.2.0, and whilst Wyatt wasn't quite as swoony, I warmed to his salt-of-the-earth, surfer charm. Sam is very likeable and you really want her to get her HEA after all that painful heartache. Lovely characters (Jack was perfectly loathsome), a lovely setting (made me want to visit Long Island), this is a great read to soak up the sun with on the beach, on your sun lounger, cocktail in hand. And if you haven't read Nora Goes Off Script yet, what have you being doing with your life?!

All those feels
This was everything I wanted to read. Heartbreak. Love again. Friendship to lovers. Being happy but not truly just finding a safe place. I read this book in a few days.

Perfect summer read
After reading Nora Goes Off Script I was eager to get started on Annabel's second novel. And it didn't disappoint. Liked the two timelines running in the story, but it felt a bit jarring to me to have the past timeline in the third person whilst the present one in first. Other than that, it was the perfect summer read.

Sam and Wyatt were both believable and sympathetically drawn characters. Wyatt's dyslexia added an interesting dimension to the story.

One of the best romances I’ve read in a while. The author describes the feelings in a way you end up feeling everything throughout the story. It is totally worth it.

Since they became summer house neighbors at the ages of five and six, Sam and Wyatt spent every summer together in Long Island before falling in love as teenagers. Unfortunately their budding and intense romance ended in heartbreak. Adult Sam has moved on (really) and she has the perfect life (promise), including a perfect safe fiance (a doctor), and the perfect safe job (that she might actually hate). Over a decade later and unexpectedly reunited with Wyatt in Long Island, Sam may finally have to confront the devastation caused by their breakup if she has any hope of finally moving on. Except of course, human emotions are complicated and old feelings still linger and the way Wyatt looks at her, well, you know. Sam and Wyatt’s road back to one another made so much sense to me that I didn’t even mind the sort-of love triangle. There was never any doubt that they were meant to be; they just had to figure out a few things first. Same Time Next Summer was such a good, angsty, second chance romance. It was exactly what I needed and the perfect summer read.
