NRS Healthcare Memo Minder Reminder Aid - Motion Sensing and Activated

FIRE HAZARD!
WARNING!!!! We bought this sensor to remind my mother who has Alzheimers to go back to bed during the night.... I was glad to see that we could use an AC adaptor to power it as I needed it go work from a time clock, i.e. only have it activated during the nighttime. To achieve this we had to discard the batteries and only power it using an AC cable. We did this and the device became intermittent! It only worked on Record Mode but wasn't able to record a message, the red light just kept blinking! After a bit of time I noticed the device got gradually hotter with an awful burning smell coming from it! We ordered a replacement (from a different seller) and only used batteries which the device worked perfectly fine.... however, the second we plugged in the AC cable the device stopped working, the burning smell started and the device got gradually hot! So in short, this device only works off battery power alone! AC power just kills it! Such a shame as it was working brilliantly the short time I tested it on batteries. NRS needs to address this issue immediately! Someone out there could be using AC power as a backup if the batteries run dead! If the batteries run flat, not only will the device break but present a significant fire hazard!!!!!! BE CAREFUL EVERYONE!!!! TAKE THIS DEVICE OFF THE MARKET NRS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE! IT COULD EASILY CATCH FIRE!!!

Marvellous memo!
Having recently adopted a young border collie who is as good as gold during the day but shredding all sorts of things during the night, I was interested to see this gadget - would it work to stop this behaviour? The answer would seem to be 'YES!'. It was very easy to set up the recorder, which I then placed about a metre away from the corner of the room (facing the corner, not out into the room) where the dog was pinching things to chew - this allowed her to move freely about the rest of the room without setting off the recording of my voice. It was only when she crossed in front of the infrared sensor that the recorder played back its message, 'Uh uh! No - leave it!' (which I heard about 2 minutes after I went upstairs at bedtime!). This morning, no shreddings! Of course, it's early days, but if this continues to do the trick, I'll be a very happy bunny! Some weeks down the line, and I have to say that this device has exceeded all my expectations. I may not be using it for the original intended purpose, but my goodness, it works exceedingly well to stop my young dog in her tracks when I'm not around to do the job in person. Only one problem - she worked out that the sensor didn't point both ways, so I've had to buy a second one!

Invaluable
I don't know how I'd manage with my aunt's Dementia without these. Fortunately she'll listen to the message most of the time - if the person ignores all warnings and instructions then they won't help in that particular context, but they've generally put a stop to the night wandering so they are worth it just for that. Some experimentation with the messages has been necessary, but invaluable is the only word that describes the benefit of these simple machines. They can be a little unpredicable when setting up (at times) but they usually settle down

They're easy to fit up on the wall once you have ...
Bought two of these to put up in my mum's flat as she has dementia and forgets to use her walking frame. They're easy to fit up on the wall once you have worked out the correct sensor area and you can record your own message on them very easily. Recommended.

Works very well. Good value for what it can do. Pleased with the purchase.
Great. Does exactly what it says it will. The recording microphone is EXTREMELY sensitive so you need to adjust the volume of the source (be it a voice or music, sound effect etc.) to quite a low level. It's quick and easy to re-record though and so you can get it bang on after a couple of attempts. You might want to be careful when sliding the switch in record mode as the sound of your fingers on the switch can get recorded along with whatever sound you are trying to record. I got it so that you don't hear the 'switching process' hardly at all.Once you have recorded the desired sound or message the unit operates extremely well. It's sensitive enough to be triggered by movement. I have mine in the porch and it works brilliantly. There is no mention about indoor/outdoor usage. I feel that it purely for indoor use. It doesn't look like it would be waterproof whatsoever so that should be considered. It's a well made device for the money because of the clever recording facility. I might even buy another one.

Easy to set up
Really pleased only downside is the button to turn it on and off is so near the recording position , I have recorded my message twice as it was overridden by pushing the button to the recording position instead of the off position. I would still recommend it as it has stopped my mother, who has Dementia, going walk about along the corridor of her sheltered housing home she hears my voice saying to go back to her bed and so far she has done exactly that.

DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH
It doesnt work. Need it to work via mains so it can only come on through the night. Bought several mains adapters as per instructions but the motion detector didnt pick up movement. Tried batteries which seemed to work then 3 weeks later when we wanted to out it in place it stopped working all together. Tried brand new batteries and everything you can think of. No contact details for supplier so left with useless piece of plastic now!!! DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH
