Completed unfurled and spreading her wings is magic. She’s strong, capable, devoted, loving and it all plays out with Mr Duke nearby.This book is perfect for reading at bedtime or an afternoon on the sofa. It’s not a beach read but could be good lounging out by the pool. The spicy sex scenes might require you to have privacy though, ahem. Woo, it’s a good one! Highly Recommend.

Loved the story ages fell in love with the MMC along with a couple of others. The are some editing issues, but I've never been one bothered by that. While the story is good it is thoroughly predictable. Still, it's worth a read.

This is my first read by her and I am obsessed. I went into this book only knowing that it was a dark hockey romance, and that he falls first. And to be honest super glad I did because I truly enjoyed this book and it definitely kept me on my toes. It had me feeling all my feelings.I was irritated.I was mad.I was obsessed.I was in love.I was happy.I was upset, I cried.I was triggered(even knowing the triggers).Lach and Lyla’s relationship was everything. And let me tell you the banter between them was 👩🏽‍🍳💋 it was funny, witty, and sassy - it delivered. Though his cockiness in the beginning really irritated me, little by little you fall in love with this grumpy obsessive, and possessive guy. And oh, was he obsessed. And even though I loved him my favorite part was Lyla effing James. Everything this girl had to go through was heartbreaking, and Claire did such an amazing job writing about the trauma and the aftermath of it. Her character was just so beautifully written, and to see her overcome this obstacle was comforting. On top of that, Lyla and I have the same birthday 🎉 Overall, this book was amazing. It was captivating, suspenseful, HOT 🥵, angsty, and very well written.Please make sure to read trigger warnings because sensitive topics are heavily mentioned.

The beginning of this book was a little slow for me. All I wanted to do was get to part 2 so that I could read about how Lachlan was going to get his revenge on Lyla. That being said, I still loved the beginning. It was nice to see how they met and what happened before Lyla broke Lachlan’s heart.This book is filled with love, sadness, humor, sexual assault, and pain. But it is definitely worth the read. I’m not going to say too much about the story because I don’t want to give anything away, but the love between Lachlan and Lyla makes my heart ache. They only knew each other for 3 months, but that was enough for both of them to fall hard. Watching them fight to get back to each other was amazing. The things that they did for ever other makes me wish I had both of them in my life.Please give this book a chance! It might be triggering for some and does have some content that some might not want to read, but if that’s ok with you, then you won’t regret it!!

Spice 3.5 qty was good to balance out plot holesGenerally when reading non fantasy smut, I want a basic plot that reflects the understanding that I’m there for the smut/romance especially when it’s ice hockey related. Like let’s not pretend or try to dress it up otherwise; therefore, “past trauma” tropes typically annoy me, but this one started off with a more interesting thriller vibe so I kept reading. I finished and enjoyed the characters and the book with a rating of 3.5 but there were some serious plot holesSpoilers I have to get off my chest:FMC gets SA by the hockey coach and she states no one believed her because he’s powerful in the town, but she doesn’t tell her Dad who’s the actual Mayor and is more powerful?! Additionally, she reports the SA and her mom’s Death to the cops but what didn’t have a R. kit done that would have proven it along with drug testing?! Also, her main friend Prescott knows it’s the coach and is what still okay playing Hockey with him?Also MMC is once again biggest male Fboy, so don’t tell me after he gets “screwed” by FMC when she leaves he doesnt rebound with other girls especially after making the NHL.Overall I would still recommend this book, but the very wordy middle trauma plot will make you scream if you get annoyed by logistics.

I absolutely loved this one! I wasn't sure where it was going at first because the prologue didn't have a time stamp on it and I wasn't sure when it took place, and I was afraid at first that Lachlan was the stalker in a bad way. But it all worked out!I loved these characters! They were strong and lovable and compelling and heartbreaking. I loved getting to see their struggles and triumphs and see their characters grow and learn and become happy. Their Present timeline was impeccably done with the anger on his side and the sadness on hers until they discovered each other's secrets and why they felt that way. The side characters were amazing! I loved Marissa and Prescott and Banks! I really want stories for all of the side characters and the other hockey players!The only reason this isn't getting 4.5 or 5 stars is because there were times that the writing felt lackluster and like I was being told things instead of experiencing them with the characters and it took me out of the story.

Hockey romance: check.He falls first: check.2nd chance romance: check.Marriage of convenience: check.Add a sprinkle of dark romance: check.And there’s was no lacking in the spice department. This book is almost like 2 books in one. I thought it was coming to an end only to realize I was only finishing the first third of the story. Loved it! The characters a cute and the writer was able to make me laugh, cry and stay invested throughout the entire story.

I really adored Lach and Lyla. Although some things seemed rushed, I actually liked seeing them together in different stages of life. Lach can be a jerk, but he is SO sweet and loves Lyla so completely, I felt both happy and sad - honestly, can you imagine someone loving another person that much in real life?! I have highlighted way too many parts of the book thanks to him.

I just don't have enough words for the emotional rollercoaster ride this book has given me. Must read this epic one ...

I’ve been in a book lull for a while as the last 3 books I’ve read were awful but this… THIS was amazing!!! I enjoyed every single part of it and the writing was phenomenal. It was knitted together perfectly from past to future and I really did get a full extent of what the writer was trying to give me in this book. The spicy scenes were well written and not tacky or cringy at all, the emotion was perfectly done and I loved the main characters! So glad I found this 10/10
