is there any way or an individual unit that can do 100lbs or combined 200lbs?

Not currently, our fitness equipment has achieved the maximum pulling force that the motor of this size can bear. If you need more pulling force, you can only connect multiple Pumps together.

Does this set come with only one resistance-mechanism (one everything) for $289??? several photos show two (for curls, crossovers, etc.)...

Dear Customer, Thank you for your inquiry. The link provided is for a single unit. If you need to use multiple units together, we suggest purchasing additional ones to meet your needs. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. We are always here to assist you.

Is this good for squats and deadlifts?

It’s good if you like doing squats and deadlifts with cable.

What does this do that fitness bands can't do?

This allows a precise tension throughout the range of motion, so you know how much you're lifting. It also allows you to vary which part of the movement has more resistance, so you can bias the concentric or eccentric parts of the movement. The biggest advantage this gives over bands, is that the starting tension and the ending tension are the same. With a band, if you were to do a biceps curl for example, the band would have very little tension at the bottom of the rep, and much more at the top, so you're really only getting a training stimulus near the top of the rep. This device is closer to using a cable machine, where the weight is the weight, no matter where you are in the range of motion. This is especially noticeable for movements with long range of motion on smaller muscles, like shoulders. Training shoulders with bands is annoying compared to using free weights or cables, since the band can't load the full range of motion the way cables can.
