Is the rustic brown light or dark?

It’s more on the darker side with almost black looking tones throughout - just like the pictures.

CAn an adult comfortably dine at this table as it is 2" - 3" lower han a traditional ining table?

I don't think the height is much of an issue for dining, I suppose it depends on the chairs used. Though mine is in front of my couch and I eat at it closed typically and set it up as a desk when I'm on my laptop. I think it's better suited for card/board games in its "dining table" in my opinion
