Corduroy

My grandma read this book to me when I was a child and it was by far my favourite! I found the board book much more child friendly so I bought this for my nephew too.

𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒚 in his green overalls (dungarees the UK might call them) is on the post box red cover; the title simply in a sunny yellow. With 32 thick cardboard pages overall; the story runs over 28 in double-page spread format, bar the first and last. The text, which includes speech and a repeat element, is at the bottom of each page. Occasionally 𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 for emphasis, there is a varied vocabulary, and, with meaningful facial expressions, the accompanying illustrations offer scope for further discussion. The first story with your very own Corduroy bear. ooOoo - 'Don Freeman wrote a sequel A Pocket for Corduroy , in 1978, but sadly died before it was published.' Subsequent titles are 'based on the character'.

I recently gave this book to my five year old granddaughter and she fell in love with Corduroy. It is a wonderful story of finding 'home'.
