Beautiful sound, good for the money, but won’t stay in tune
Thank goodness for the reviewer below who took the time to teach us about tuning this, or we would have had to send it back—tuning is no easy thing!Unfortunately, as other reviewers stated, this does not stay in tune. I can physically feel the legs turn against me as I’m letting go. I’ve pushed them in as far as I can, some even so far as to see the textured grip come out the other side.I started tuning it about 3 clicks sharp, and then it managed to stay in tune a little better, but it’s still not staying like it should, and it’s really frustrating not to be able to just pick it up and play, especially as it’s for my daughter (10yo), who struggles to tune it herself without help. That being said, for the price point and the sound quality, I’d probably buy it again because it’s exactly what I needed it to be—a cheap harp to learn the basics on.

Very pleased with this purchase
I received this harp two weeks ago and have spent a lot of time playing this baby harp. I currently own a Camac floor harp and a Triplett therapy harp. I will be traveling in May in an airplane and was apprehensive about taking my smaller harp on a plane.Based on the YouTube and Amazon reviews on the Aklot harp, I decided to take a chance and purchase this harp. The harp was tuned a lot in the first couple of days. I now tune it once a day and it is always just a little flat, but very quick and easy to tune back up.This harp obviously does not sound like my Camac or Triplett but is serves a purpose. This harp is a true lap harp and I will enjoy playing it out in my garden and taking it places without any worry of possible damage.I have been able to adapt a lot of my harp music to play on this harp and have had so much fun just noodling around on it.The harp arrived quickly, and everything was included in the package that was advertised. The carrying case is quite thin and I plan to make one that will protect the harp a little more. This is a great deal and a great little harp!

Fun toy!
The media could not be loaded. I bought this TOY harp for the purpose of taking a harp out hiking or on road trips without having to treat it like precious cargo. This toy harp is perfect for just goofing around.I feel I must again emphasize that this harp is more of a toy than a instrument. The quality of the strings and wood make for a poor tone. But the cheap wood also makes it super lightweight. I am physically very weak, so I really appreciate that this little harp is so portable. I could hang it over my shoulder while hiking through the woods and forget I’m carrying it. It is also very comfortable to hold and play.A big drawback is that the strings quickly fall out of tune. I have tuned it everyday for two weeks which normally would be enough time for nylon strings to settle. The seller suggested gently hammering in the tuning pegs if they quickly go out of tune. So I followed their advice and it helped a little. The notes now fall only slightly out of tune. It’s frustrating, but I decided to not worry about it since I won’t be performing with it. Being slightly off key isn’t a big deal when chilling on the beach.I would NOT recommend this toy harp for learning how to play the harp for two reasons.1) it has only two octaves which is not enough strings for both hands. Most melodies (which the right hand plays) will use two octaves, so this harp has no room for your left hand to play bass/rhythm.2) when playing a chord (several notes at once) the tone sounds pretty bad.For a toy, it is very pretty. I really like the mahogany color. I’ve seen this same harp available in pink, blue, and white, but I prefer this wood stained model. If you buy it expecting a toy you will be very pleased. If you buy it expecting a fine instrument, you will be disappointed. I expected a toy, and I am happy with it.

I’m a beginner …
I tuned the harp as I learned about it through YouTube tutorials. Experts say that with these little harps, the more you practice with it and be patient with retuning, it will eventually break in and stay tuned. People have complained about it not staying in tune but when I heard about putting it to use and breaking in the strings, I am excited to learn some chords. I think it has a beautiful sound. When my husband came home from work, he was surprised to see a harp sitting on the mantle of the electric fireplace. I told him I’ve decided to try something new. I’m experienced with playing guitar so I happen to love strings. So I step outside to take out the trash and when I came back, I heard the sounds of beautiful harp strings playing. My husband has never touched a harp in his life and he just picked a few notes and it just sounded so gracious and peaceful! He surprised me! I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy my journey of learning how to play the harp.

Won’t stay in tune
I bought this for my 6 year old daughter who wanted to learn the harp, she loves it and it has been perfect for her needs, but it will not hold its tune. I’ll tune it and less than a minute later some of the strings loose their proper frequency. But I guess that’s what I should expect from a cheap harp.
