Tried twice. Didn't work either time with my Sony Tv
I bought and returned two of these. I intended this to compliment a small but efficient amp and two Klipsch bookshelf speakers. My hope was to be able to use my Tv remote for volume control so I wouldn't have to get a huge A/V receiver. The first adapter worked to control the volume until I turned the Tv off. When I turned it back on I could no longer control the volume. Double and triple checked all the settings. Everything was as it should have been. I tried Amazon support but they were clueless.I even bought another brand and the same thing happened. It probably doesn't work with my tv for some reason. I have a Sony XBR-65X90CH. I was impressed with the quality of the audio, but not being able to control the volume with one remote was a disappointment.

Update: Sound works, must adjust TV settings for Sony Google TV
UPDATE: The sound does work out of this device. Sony's default settings on the X75K for external speakers must be changed though. Settings -> Display & Sound -> Audio Output. Speakers set to Audio System. Audio System Prioritization set to On. A/V Sync set to Auto, eARC Mode set to Auto, Digital Audio Out mode set to PCM, Digital Audio Out Volume set to Max level, and Pass through mode Off. These settings got sound to come out from my old stereo receiver through the RCA red/white output.Original review: Tried using this with my Sony X75K TV and couldn't get it to work. The TV recognized it as an ARC device and switched its audio output to it, but I couldn't get sound out of my known good external speakers using either RCA cables or a 3.5mm cable. Tried different HDMI cables and USB power adapters, and even tried using a SPDIF cable instead of/along with HDMI, but could never get any audio output from this device.

I tried others , they had little to no sound to my head phones and stereo. This one is loud and clear. Used optic cable, that way TV speakers and head phones work at the same time. Arc cable also works .Thank YOU.

It doesn’t work on my Samsung TV
I give 1 star for sound because it didn’t work on my Samsung and LG TV.
