Is it the Best thread chaser kit? No But it saved me from buying a new oil pan for $800. If you only need one size for a job. It's perfectly fine! But if you need to use it daily, Buy a higher quality set. But this will definitely get you out of a jam!

I just bought this Thread Chaser Kit and it provides a full complement of S.A.E. and Metric thread pitches that you commonly need for servicing threaded components. This is a really important kit to have in your tool arsenal in checking and properly cleaning threads on bolts, bolt holes and other threaded components. This is important for proper seating, proper torque values and eliminating leaks. If you want a quality thread chaser, please consider picking one of these kits up and enhance your maintenance and service related procedures you perform. OMT equipment is the best in my opinion.

Works great. I pretty much only use it to clean up the old loctite on bolts/threads etc.

While installing an aftermarket roof rack on my truck, I discovered one of the factory roof rails female inserts in the roof had rusted/corroded and the new rack bolt wouldn't thread in with reasonable torque. I had never heard of a 'thread chaser' but this came up in my search for a 6mm tap. I just expected to order a tap as I had used them in the past, but the description of the 'thread chaser' was really what I needed... not making new threads, just cleaning and repairing existing threads. In other words, it's not as aggressive as a tap and isn't likely to mistakenly do more harm than good. The price of one tap was a quarter of the way to this entire set, so I went for the whole set as I've needed to fix threads in the past (but gave up) and figure I'll need it again in the future. The 6mm chaser did exactly as advertised: methodical, slow, repeated turning in and backing out and blowing out the hole did the job. New bolt went in nicely after about 10 minutes of gently easing the chaser further and further in with every run at it. The 'nutsert' in the roof was likely to start spinning if I put too much torque into the cleaning. I believe the tool could handle more than I was giving it, just didn't want to mess up the part in the roof of the truck. Glad I bought it. Would buy again. Wish I had discovered this a long time ago.

Nice assortment of sizes and they're well made. The chasers work really well and I've cleaned up several sizes of rusty bolts and nuts. Before I bought this, I'd make my own chasers by cutting slots in spare nuts and bolts, but this quality set is so convenient I should have purchased it long ago. I did have to contact Orion Motor Tech's support because I was missing the metric thread file (I received 2 SAE files.) Support was helpful and fast to respond, and quickly sent the missing metric thread file so I won't deduct any stars. In fact, I was so pleased with the process I've purchased other products from OMT since.

I got this set thinking I’d only need it for one job and maybe in a pinch later on. Turns out know that I have it, I find myself using it all the time to clean dirt and grease out of bolts I need to reuse on my car and to clean up old fasteners for other small projects. They are well made, do a great job and it’s a really good assortment of sizes for my needs. They have held up well after a few months of fairly regular use and I’d definitely recommend them.

Not as sharp as a high quality set, but got the job done. You get what you pay for.

Used once and 3 bit have broken and 2 stripped out. Hand tools used not hard use either. Excepted much better and am upset by this.
