Excellent Menu! Everything looks delicious!
While I never got to actually try their food, the menu book looked AMAZING.The amount of diverse and spectacularly decorated sushi truly took my breath away. The chef is seriously talented like no other. The unagi looked so fresh that I could believe it was still alive! I really hope to try their poke. I also have to call out the high quality freshness looking uni and puffer.

One of the top two fish books, but not the best
This is good, but it leans pretty heavily to the scientific, describing the fish in terms of all kinds of jargon, like "caudal". I think that's the tail. Hoover's book I like a lot better, he describes the fish in more general terms and adds anecdotes, like sayings the ancient Hawaiians had involving the fish (Parrot fish rubbing noses is a sure sign of flirting at home). I own this, but I read Hoover.

Good Diver's Reference for Hawaiian fish
This was a used book but it came looking like new. It has good color photos of the fish of Hawaii and a good description of them. It's very comparable to the Reef Identification books by Paul Humann for those who may already be familiar with those books. I haven't used it yet. I've looked through it of course but I bought it for a trip in Jan 2015 to Truk Lagoon with a stop over in Hawaii on the way back. This is a reference book. It's one you go to in order to ID fish that you've seen while diving or snorkeling. It's not intended to be read cover to cover.

Well structured, Useful, Delightful
I love how detailed this book is. I love that it offers practical information about distinguishing species that look similar, that the author has bothered to organize it the way he has, that rare species are at least mentioned, and that depths where creatures can be seen are listed. It is very fun to have the included Hawaiian name. This is a great book.

Lovely book!
I have used this book, placed randomly on our coffee table, to get my land-lubber hubby warmed up to the idea of snorkeling on the Big Island in a few weeks. It's working. He's always loved fish and fishing. The pictures are so beautiful. He's now excited about his prospects...mission accomplished! I highly recommend this book.

good book
A more simple book, but the photos are good and the text is very readable. If you can get this book at its retail price or less, then I would recommend it.

Well done but very technical
The science and layout are great, but I was hoping for something a little less technical. You gotta be a real fish geek to want this one.
