Not a coffe table book
Minus a star for size of book. Its not a coffee table book, its a lap book. Pics are nice, good explanation - but some pics are split into 2 pages instead of one because of size - 9 x 9" - 240 pages.

It's a good book to know what's the earth view from sky
It's a good book to know what's the earth view from sky, but the country area coverage is a fewer than expected.

Every space love should but a cooy
Love space? You'll love this book of, mainly, photos. It's a great coffee table book but also very educational to see the world in such detail.

The International Space Station's view of our planet
XXXXX“It’s impossible to look down on Earth from space and not be mesmerized by the fragile beauty of our planet…I became determined to share this unique perspective of the one place we call home…This book captures my personal journey of discovery, not just the discovery of Earth—a stunning oasis of life in the vastness of space—but also the discovery of a newfound passion for photography…I hope that these images fire your imagination like they have mine. And I hope that I am able to share with you some of the same sense of awe that I first experienced when looking down on planet Earth.”The above extracts come from the introduction of this stunningly beautiful book by Tim Peake. He is a European Space Agency astronaut. He finished his 186-day mission (Dec 15, 2015 to June 18, 2015) working on the International Space Station (ISS).This book consists of about 140 photographs that Peake took while on his ISS mission. All the photos have captions. The captions, amongst other things, give directions on what landmarks to look for.As you can imagine, all the photos are unique and gorgeous. Surprisingly we’re not told at what altitude they were taken from but I discovered that the ISS orbits our planet at an average altitude of about 240 miles or 400 km.These photos give an unforgettable new perspective of our oceans, mountains, forests, and deserts. As well, we get to see aerial views of the world’s cities and the breathtaking beauty of the aurora. Finally, the only problem I had is that I could not see all the things that we were directed to see in the captions. This was because some of the location directions were too general. There is one photo where the structures were actually circled. Doing this was quite helpful. Later in the book, Peake suggests using a magnifying glass. I did this and it was extremely helpful. Unfortunately, it was suggested to do this late in the book.In conclusion, this is a remarkable book that gives us a view of the Earth from over 200 miles above it. Strangely, I felt closer to this planet that I ever did before!!(2016; introduction; timeline; 5 chapters; main narrative 235 pages; about the author [untitled]; acknowledgements; picture list)<<Stephen PLETKO, London, Ontario, Canada>>XXXXX

Breathtaking photographs - lots of interesting facts
I bought this book for my son, who is an Aerospace Engineering graduate and a big Tim Peake fan. I have the hard cover copy of the book and the printing on the cover is excellent and vibrant. The book measures 23,5cm x 23.5cm x 2cm.This is astronaut Tim Peake's first book. The book is full of beautiful photographs in full colour and the introduction 4 pages long. From the ISS he can see over 1000 km in any direction and his explanation of passing over the French Alps he could see a view stretching from Greece to the UK with just a turn of the head makes you realise just how amazing his journey must have been. He references the camera (Nikon D4) that he used and goes into detail about that. The back of the book has an entire page with reference to each location of the photograph. This book is ideal for anyone who loves space and especially great to show children and use this book in schools. The ISS is packed with cutting edge technology including wi-fi and the internet connection to Earth via a satellite (it was very slow). The book outlines his mission with a sketch covering two pages in the book, from 15 December 2015 (launch day) right through to the 18th June 2016 when he eventually gets back home. The photographs are breathtaking and the text for each page is roughly 4 lines with many pages referencing many interesting facts about the locations. For example, Emi Koussi volcano which is at the top of one of the pictures, the highest mountain in the Sahara, and the 345 million year old Aorounga impact crater in Chad (bottom of the picture). There is a short description of the picture/photograph and then a small picture showing the location on a map.I am so happy I bought it and hope my son is going to love it too.I have added photographs.

perfect stocking stuffer!
nice book. great for putting on the coffee table. great pictures. since most people can't go into space, this is the closest way to experience what it is like being in space looking down on planet earth.

Makes a nice coffee table book.
I bought this for my niece (12) along with two other Tim Peake books at Christmas.....she is interested in all things space. When asked, she said this was the least interesting book of the three but the photographs are good...... I think she prefers a lot more facts. It’s a nicely presented book and I flicked through it before wrapping it....a nice coffee table book in my opinion.

Inspiring for Everyone
Bought this for 2 best friends for Christmas. Was so impressed that I bought a third for myself.Shouldn't have expected any less though - he served in my regiment in the Army, so Tim's usual top-notch approach to everything he sets his mind to.A very worthy recipient of the gift of going into space & an all-round good human being.Book's FULL of astounding photos from the ISS.

No good on a Kindle.
The Kindle version cannot be read on a Kindle. I imagine the paper copy is a beautifully produced full colour coffee table book, but in black and white on a Kindle it is useless. The book is presented as a type of microfiche of the book. If you've ever had to use a microfiche machine, you'll get an idea of how difficult and unpleasant it is to try to "read" this book on a Kindle. I was very disappointed, as I'd been following Tim Peake's Fb posts while he was on the station and thought I was going to be reading about his experience, not trying to view a coffee table book in a totally unsuitable format.

Brilliant photograpic record
I will be honest, I have not read all the text of this book. However I have looked at all the photos and I am looking forward to studying them in detail. To see the earth from 'above' is wonderful. I can recommend this book as I have no chance and I am sure it is safe to say readers of this review (unless Tim reads it) will not have a chance of seeing it themselves.
