Unmanaged for your pleasure
Plug and play is a beautiful thing, and this device just works. If you already have a modem and router, this is all you need to extend your home or small office ethernet to 15 other devices (you need 1 port for incoming LAN feed). The included card incorrectly states to download the Aruba app, and to search for the device on your network. This is wrong, and will not work for the unmanaged switches. Mine was missing the power cable from the box, but the 16 port switch uses a standard cable (IEC-320-C13), just like most desktop computers and monitors. This device runs very cool, and is dead silent. If you've ever own a netgear switch, you know how hot those can be. I stuffed it into a home LAN distribution box by cutting the included server mount brackets, and screwing them to the sides of the box, and screwing the other half of the cut bracket to the first. It is tight in there, but it doesn't get any warmer than ambient, even with the box cover in place. I'm happy to have gigabit to all my home computers and network storage now, along with 100 mbps to my IoT devices, and security system (limitation of those devices, not the switch). This devices has a ton of dead space inside, and is more suited to a server rack, if you have that available.

Perfect for a home office or even networking your entire home
My job allows me to work from home, so currently my Internet modem is in the same room where I work. That way I can easily run CAT6 cable to each of my computers in the office for the fastest and most reliable speed possible. Everything else in my house uses WiFi currently, but I have a plan to eventually wire my entire home with CAT6 cable and outlets. When I do that, this 16-port switch will be perfect for controlling all of the outlets in my home. But for now I'm just using it in my office to replace two 8-port switches. Aruba is owned by HP, so the quality of their products is excellent. Each of the 16-ports on this switch can operate at 3 speeds (10, 100, or 1,000 Mbps). Since I swapped this switch out for my other two, I can tell that I'm getting better overall throughput, so I'm a happy customer. I will probably buy more Aruba switches in the future.
