For native Washingtonians only
If you're not from DC this book wouldn't have much appeal, except the early chapters that offer a historical look at the dining options and taste of nineteenth century Washington.

We <3 DC
We live in DC and for my husband's birthday I gave this to him and let him pick five places in DC that he's always wanted to eat and I'd buy him dinner there. He likes to walk the city so we plan to do a long urban hike to the restaurants he chooses and back. This was a nice riff on the theme and described many historic restaurants, a bit of nice neighborhood trivia for the DC resident and visitors alike.

Excellent history of restaurants in Washington, DC.
Excellent history of restaurants in Washington. It's not limited to "historic restaurants," as its title might suggest. I found it very interesting, with respect to the restaurant scene extending back to the 1970s, when I arrived in DC, and a great historical reference to the past beyond that time.

Fun and Nostalgia
I've lived in the DC area since 1943, and another long-time resident recommended this book. It's great fun, and brought back lots of nice memories.
