Good coir charcoal
These briquettes are very regular, burn hot and long and don't make much smoke. They are definitely harder to light than the usual stuff but some fluid and a cordless lilo inflater make short work of them. Nice product that we like.

Less smokey, cleaner, but slightly harder to light
I ordered these briquettes mainly due to the fact that they were listed as being a lower smoke producing variety of briquette, our neighbours are not barbecue fans so we try not to impose too much.Having used them twice on our small barbecue I would say they do definitely seem to be less smokey, which thankfully didn't seem to affect the barbecue flavour. They are also less messy/dusty, and therefore easier to work with. Once lit they do get very hot, and even seemed to last longer. In fact the only non positive aspect was that they did seem to be a bit unwilling to light innitially, this could be because we had kept them in the porch between uses, but with the aid of a firelighter we got them going soon enough.Overall it is a product I think we will use again next year, the positives outweigh the one issue we had, the fact that it's a sustainable/renewable product is hugely important to us, and I'm happy to recommend them.

Bulky and takes time but smokeless
I've been using Coco BBQ charcoal for a while and love this bag - it seems pretty good quality and is way less smokeless than the standard stuff. It does take a while to get going but once there, it lasts longer (I think - my other half disagrees).Good quality and not bad price either. Highly recommend to all.

A cleaner way to barbecue
This, coconut shell, charcoal instantly looks different.Presented in a sturdy cardboard bag, with a sewn string fastening, it's much cleaner than I expected. The briquettes feel of a more standard size and there's very little dust evident in the bag. Each piece is lightweight and of a suitable size to use in any barbeque, big or small.Good old British weather means that I've not had the chance to light these yet but I can already tell that they'll have a cleaner burn; less smoke, which has to be a massive bonus. The bag contains 5kg of briquettes and at £14.99, at time of review, feels like decent value.I'll update this review once I've cooked with these but first impressions are very positive and it altogether seems like a cleaner and greener way of fuelling my barbeques.

COCO & COIR Natural BBQ Charcoal
I chose the 5 kg bag of COCO & COIR Natural BBQ Charcoal, and it looks just like the product image. The size is decent, and it’s exactly what you’d expect from barbecue charcoal. What I really appreciate is that they are practically smokeless and have a long burn time, generating plenty of heat, perfect for grilling everything from burgers to veggies to seafood. It did take a while to get them going - definitely a slow burner - but they are fit for purpose. There's no wow factor, but they do the job, and being 100% sustainable aligns perfectly with my eco values.

It's Charcoal
Coconut coir charcoal, as any South African will tell you. They use these charcoals all the time. Plus they are made by one of the big names in coco coir (I already use their products) so I had little doubt that these would be the biz, and they are. Not much different from other charcoal except less smoke. No coconut flavoured burgers when using this charcoal I'm afraid, lol. Decent sized blocks and of good quality, (solid) if a bit dusty. That's charcoal for you. They burn evenly once fully fired up with no noticeable difference in burning times worth mentioning. Lighting them is, as with all barbeques, an art. A leaf blower helps make things a bit easier and quicker, just watch out for the embers.I'll buy them again but with a 5kg bag and British summer weather, it might be a while. Happy BBQN, Folks!

Practically smokeless!
I've actually had these sat here for most of this week. Unfortunately our British August weather has been playing silly bugg… let's just say that it is only today that I have finally had the chance to take these Coconut Shell Briquettes out for a spin!So I open the bag - good size bag it is too - and the contents look exactly like charcoal briquettes. You may be sat there thinking "well, duh!" but I wasn't sure what exactly to expect to be honest. In keeping with looking like charcoal briquettes, they light the same as charcoal briquettes also. Having said that it did not take me long to realise there is one significant and quite honestly deal-breaking difference - these Coconut skin briquettes DO NOT SMOKE!!!They heated up in around the same time as regular charcoal does - 30-40 minutes or thereabouts. They seem to keep the heat well and after 90 minutes here they were still reasonably hot I would say.Look, the big thing for me I have already mentioned. I called it "deal-breaking" for a reason - the lack of smoke is a big, big bonus in my opinion and a big selling point. I absolutely 110% would order these again. If there were stocks in these things I would buy, buy, buy because these should take off and replace normal charcoal if there's any justice in the world. Very happy, as if you cannot tell already!
