Our school doesn’t have a specific writing curriculum so this book was a great I loved that it talked about various types of writing rather than focusing on just one. I also love that I can rip the pages out whenever we finish them and that there are pieces that can be done independently or with help from an adult or another student.

We bought this to work with our child during summer break. Kids tend to loose the curriculum they learn during the summer, and we assign them/work with them a couple pages a day, and it has worked wonderfully. Our children were essentially able to master the next grade years curriculum by the start of the new school year. This brand of books seems to match school textbooks/curriculum as close as possible from all the different brands of books we have purchased. They are well written and follow a natural progression of the subjects, building from the beginning of the school year, advancing to more advanced subject at the end of the grade level. We have made it a tradition to buy the next grade level books every summer, resulting in being more than prepared for class at the start of the year. They also are great for enrichment during the school year on subjects that the student needs a little extra help with. We buy every year.

I am very impressed with the 5th grade Writing book. It includes the various types of writing required by the standards as well as grammer practice. It explicitly teaches the various components of writing in an easy to understand practice. I look forward to using this with my students next school year.

The Spectrum 5th Grade Writing Workbook from Carson Dellosa is fantastic! The pages are colorful and engaging. They include subjects such as Foundations of Writing, Writing to Inform, Writing a Narrative, and Writing an Opinion. These are all phenomenal things to use either for summer bridge material or as a supplement to classroom assignments. These are highly engaging and include supplementary writing prompts and colorful reference charts at the back for students as well. I highly recommend this book!

The Spectrum 5th grade Writing workbook is a great resource for both teachers and home school parents. This workbook offers lessons on all the foundations of writing, narrative writing , informative writing (including a section on how to take notes & cite work) and writing opinion pieces. It walks the student through step by step. It all provides writing prompts, reference charts and an answer key. I highly recommend this product.
